Workable is the hiring system behind many small and mid-size company postings, in Europe especially. Its form is one page: upload a resume, the fields fill, answer the questions, submit, confirmation email. The thing to know is the screening questions. Workable lets the employer mark a yes or no question as disqualifying, and a wrong answer ends the application the moment you submit, with a polite email and no person involved. Read every yes or no question as if it were that one.
Key points
- The address is
apply.workable.com/company, or the company's own site with the form embedded. - One page, no account required. An optional candidate profile exists and does little for you.
- Upload the resume first. The autofill fills contact, experience and education fields.
- Yes or no questions can be disqualifiers. Read them twice and answer truthfully.
- A confirmation email is the receipt. No portal unless you made the optional profile.
The form
| Section | What it asks | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Resume | Upload, or import from a profile | Upload the tailored copy first |
| Personal information | Name, email, phone, address, sometimes a photo field | The photo is optional everywhere and off in most countries |
| Experience | Roles with titles, companies and dates, prefilled from the parse | Every date, every title |
| Education | Prefilled from the parse | The year |
| Summary | A short free text box | Three sentences, the resume summary works |
| Questions | Yes or no, choice, short text, the employer's own | The yes or no ones are the knockouts |
| Cover letter | A text box, often optional | Paste the letter, or two sentences |
A yes or no question on Workable can be a door. Read it before you answer.
The autofill
Workable's parse fills more than most: it reads roles into the experience section with dates, and education with years. That is convenient and it is where the mistakes land. A role whose dates it could not read becomes a role with no dates, which the recruiter reads as a short one. Open each prefilled entry and check it. The guide on ATS-friendly resumes has how to make the file parse cleanly.
The screening questions
The employer writes the questions and can mark any choice question as disqualifying. The form does not show you which. Typical ones: "Do you have the right to work in Germany?", "Are you able to work from the office three days a week?", "Do you have at least three years of experience with X?".
Answer truthfully. A false "yes" ends at the offer, when the record is checked, which is later and worse than ending at the form. If the truthful answer disqualifies you, the role was not available to you, and the form told you faster than a month of silence would have.
The summary and the cover letter box
Two free text boxes. The summary box takes the three sentences from your resume summary, which the guide on summary examples shows. The cover letter box takes the four paragraphs from the guide on cover letters, or, when it is optional and you have no letter, two sentences: the one thing and when you are free.
After you submit
A confirmation email from the employer via Workable. If a disqualifying question caught you, a second email follows, usually within the hour, saying the employer will not be moving forward. That speed is the sign it was a question, not a person.
No portal by default. The optional Workable profile lets you see applications made while signed in, and it is not worth creating for one application.
On this site
Tailor rewrites your resume and cover letter against the posting before you open the form, so the words you paste in are the ones the posting used. When you send it, add the row in Track, with the ATS score you sent it at. We do not fill the form for you: the pledge on this site says we will not apply on your behalf.
Before you open the form
The tailored resume exported and named. The cover letter in a text file, if you have one, because the box takes a paste and loses a draft on reload. The answers to the standard questions written down: right to work, location, start date, the salary range from the guide on salary expectations. With those three ready, the form takes ten minutes, and the ten minutes are spent reading the yes or no questions, which is where they belong.

Questions
Is the photo field required?
Almost never, and in most countries a resume photo is not expected. Leave it empty unless the posting is in a country where it is the convention, which the guide on CV versus resume covers.
Can I edit an application after submitting?
No. Email the recruiter with the correction. It attaches to your record.
The form rejected my resume file.
A PDF or Word file under a few megabytes with a text layer. A scanned PDF is an image and fails. The guide on ATS-friendly resumes has the rules.
Why was I rejected within an hour?
A disqualifying question, nearly always. A person did not read the application. Check which yes or no question it was likely to be, and whether the answer was true. If it was, the role was not available to you.
Does Workable share my data with other employers?
No. Each employer's Workable is their own. The optional profile is yours and is not shared with employers you did not apply to.
