Who sponsors visas
Before a US company can hire a worker on an H-1B visa, it files a Labor Condition Application with the Department of Labor. Those filings are public. This page ranks the employers that file the most, shows which roles and states they file for, and what wage they commit to pay.

Methodology
What an application is
A Labor Condition Application (LCA) is the first step to an H-1B visa. The employer states the role, the worksite and the wage it will pay. The Department of Labor certifies it. Then the employer files a petition with USCIS, which decides on the visa. This page counts certified LCAs. It does not count visas issued, and one application can cover several workers. The worker positions per employer are in the data, the ranking uses applications.
What we count
We keep applications with status Certified and Certified-Withdrawn. H-1B only. We skip H-1B1 and E-3. A fiscal year runs from 1 October to 30 September. A year marked "to date" is partial until DOL publishes its Q4 file. DOL files hold one quarter each, or the year so far, and we merge them by decision date. Employers with fewer than 5 certified applications in a year count in the totals but have no row.
Wages
The wage is the lower bound of the rate the employer filed, turned into a yearly figure (hourly times 2,080, weekly times 52, monthly times 12). Values under $20,000 or over $2,000,000 a year are dropped as entry errors. A filed wage is a floor the employer promises, not what the worker earns.
Matching to the board
We match the employer name to a company on the board after we drop words like Inc and LLC. A name that starts with a board company name also matches, for example Amazon.com Services LLC matches Amazon. Some matches will be wrong or missing. Staffing and consulting firms often file for workers placed at other companies, so the employer is not always the place you would work.
Refreshed weekly. DOL publishes a new file each quarter.
