This role gives you the opportunity to combine hands-on test automation with genuine influence over software quality.

You will work across an established insurance technology portfolio while helping evolve our automation approach and tooling. You will have the space to improve testing practices, collaborate closely with engineering teams, and contribute directly to the quality of products serving the insurance sector.

For someone who enjoys solving problems rather than simply executing test scripts, it offers a strong balance of technical ownership, product impact, and long-term development within a global data, analytics, and technology organization.

Verisk Claims UK

At Verisk, we use data, analytics, and technology to help organizations make better decisions about risk. Within Verisk Claims UK, our technology supports the insurance ecosystem, including solutions across Motor, Anti-Fraud, Property, and Personal Injury.

We are looking for an Automation Test Engineer to help us strengthen the quality, reliability, and performance of these products.

This is more than a test execution role. You will have real ownership of automation, influence how quality is built into the development lifecycle, and work closely with engineering, product, and business colleagues to make sure our software is ready for release.

Our wider Claims technology environment includes SaaS products used by insurers, suppliers, police forces, and supporting organizations across the UK and internationally, giving engineering teams the opportunity to contribute to software with meaningful reach across the insurance ecosystem.

You will join a collaborative Agile Scrum team, taking ownership of automated testing while helping the team continuously improve how quality is delivered.

You will:

• Design, develop, and maintain automated tests using Cypress.io and BDD practices with Cucumber, while contributing to our migration toward Playwright.

• Work alongside developers, product owners, and business analysts to understand requirements early and build effective test coverage.

• Own system, regression, and integration testing across multiple environments.

• Validate REST API integrations using tools such as Postman or Insomnia.

• Create and maintain effective test cases in QMetry, aligned with product requirements and the wider test strategy.

• Identify, investigate, and track defects through JIRA, partnering with developers to reproduce issues and get to the root of problems.

• Define appropriate test data and quality benchmarks, while identifying opportunities to improve our automation and testing practices.

• Contribute actively to sprint planning, stand-ups, backlog refinement, reviews, retrospectives, and quarterly PI planning.

• Support release readiness by planning test activity, reviewing release notes, and validating functionality before deployment.

You will bring solid hands-on experience in software testing and automation and be comfortable working as part of an Agile engineering team.

We are particularly interested in experience with:

• Cypress.io or another modern test automation framework.

• BDD frameworks such as Cucumber.

• API testing with Postman, Insomnia, or similar tools.

• Test case management using QMetry or equivalent.

• JIRA for defect, task, and sprint management.

• System, regression, and integration testing.

• Working collaboratively with software developers and other technical and business stakeholders.

Just as importantly, you will be methodical and curious, with strong attention to detail and the confidence to communicate technical issues clearly.

Nice to have:

• JavaScript or SQL knowledge, or experience working within a Java-based environment.

• Exposure to Playwright.

• Experience within UK insurance, particularly Motor Claims, Anti-Fraud, Property, or Personal Injury.

• Experience with performance or load testing tools such as JMeter or k6.

• Experience using AI-assisted tools, such as GitHub Copilot, to improve testing or engineering workflows.

• An ISTQB, ISEB, or other recognized software testing certification.

• Experience developing or working with test strategies in regulated or highly compliant environments.
