Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Technical Authority & Expertise: Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for instrumentation systems within the BEF class and Steam Turbine product lines. Provide advanced technical oversight, solve complex design challenges, and ensure all hardware and system integration decisions meet rigorous technical specifications.
- Quality & Lean Excellence: Champion a culture of defect-free design by overseeing technical reviews and eliminating "customer escapes." Drive quality and operational rigor through the ownership of standard designs (GBOM) and standard work. Utilize structured problem-solving methods to establish a robust feedback loop, ensuring the root cause of issues is addressed to prevent defect re-occurrence while continuously improving design quality. - Delivery Management: Lead with a high-rigor approach to On-Time Delivery (OTD). Use Daily Management (DM) to track KPIs, identify bottlenecks, and take preventative action on schedule risks.
- Strategic Partnership: Serve as the technical bridge between Engineering and CMPD. Align design outputs with manufacturing/sourcing capabilities to ensure seamless project execution.
- Talent Development: Mentor early-career engineers, fostering an environment of technical growth, inclusivity, and operational discipline. Drive lessons learned back into standards to avoid repeat issues.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in engineering design, specifically within Power Plant systems (Steam Turbines/Heavy Duty preferred).
- Demonstrated experience in Lean methodologies, Daily Management (DM), and KPI-based operational leadership.
- Deep understanding of engineering standards, P&IDs, and design rigor processes.
Desired Characteristics:
- Proven track record of managing complex technical projects and mitigating schedule risks.
