About the Role
Join an in-house hardware team building autonomous robotic systems for industrial environments. You will own mechanical subsystems from concept through working prototype, helping turn complex robotics systems into practical infrastructure.
What You'll Do
Design mechanical subsystems from initial sketches through prototyping and iteration, choosing appropriate materials, tolerances, and manufacturing methods.
Create parts and assemblies in CAD, using hand calculations and FEA to guide design decisions.
Build and iterate on prototypes using 3D printers, shop tools, and CNC equipment.
Integrate mechanical designs with motors, sensors, electronics, and actuators on robotic arms and mobile bases.
Collaborate with electrical, software, and robotics teams to develop autonomous systems for production deployment.
What We're Looking For
Two to five years of experience designing mechanical hardware for 6DOF robot arms or comparable multi-axis robotic systems.
A BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, and proficiency with SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or equivalent CAD tools.
Hands-on experience taking robot prototypes from concept to working hardware, including mechanisms, joints, drivetrains, or end effectors.
Recent robotics design experience and experience shipping hardware in a startup or small, hands-on team.
Practical fabrication skills, including 3D printing, CNC machining, and use of shop tools.
Experience integrating motors, sensors, or actuators; familiarity with FEA or topology optimization is useful.
Ability to own subsystems independently and work effectively in a fast-moving environment.
Authorization to work in the United States.
