A postdoctoral research position is available for bacteriophage engineering and cell free bacteriophage synthesis. The Sandoval laboratory in the Dept. of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Tulane University is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to help develop next generation tools at the intersection of bacteriophage engineering and cell free manufacturing as part of a multi-institution collaboration.
The postdoctoral researcher will play a central role in designing improved cell free bacteriophage manufacturing platforms for non-model phage & bacteria.
Bacteria and bacteriophage culturing and genetic engineering
Performing and optimizing cell free TXTL reactions
Identifying biological and biochemical bottlenecks limiting efficiency
Generating data to inform and implement iterative improvements in the DBTL cycle
Participating in early stage translational efforts
Aiding in the generation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
The role is full time on site in New Orleans, LA on the Tulane uptown campus.
Required
PhD in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Microbiology, Biomolecular Sciences, or related field
Strong experimental skills
Strong communication skills (both oral and written)
Hands-on experience with cell free transcription/translation reactions
Preferred
Experience with bioinformatic tools
