Overview
The Multifamily Interconnection Analyst prepares, submits, and approves interconnection applications and manages all utility related requirements for projects through permission to operate (PTO).
Responsibilities
- Prepares and submits utility interconnection applications and manage the relationship with the utility throughout the application review process through PTO
- Reviews plansets for accuracy and completeness and works with Design and Engineering to resolve any discrepancies
- Resolves any utility comments independently and delegates any remaining comments to Operations, Engineering, and Sales as needed
- Own interconnection pipeline for assigned projects from initial application submission all the way through Permission To Operate.
- Utilizes software systems to record progress of various tasks and maintain project schedules
- Obtains customer signatures as required, prepares project documentation, and organizes documentation
- Collaborates with other internal groups on actions needed to move interconnection pipeline forward
- Coordinate with other teams to ensure timely response to program requirements and corrections
- Interact regularly with multiple departments, such as Design, Development teams, Project Management and Construction Management.
- Manages and coordinates utility outages
- Identify areas of opportunity for pipeline efficiency gains and process improvement
- Proactively identifies program requirement changes and potential risks
- Problem solve internal/external escalations quickly in coordination with other teams and communicate resolution in a professional manner
- Coordinates payment and reimbursement of interconnection fees according to company guidelines
- Supports policy related outreach for company initiatives, including improving utility processes
- Analyze trends and challenges with interconnection/incentive pipelines and enact possible solutions
- Monitor automation tools as needed to meet requirements and timelines
- Monitor and follow up on the rebate reservation and payment, as well as Interconnection approval process within Service Level Agreement
- Prepare and Submit documents for utilities and/or incentive programs within Service Level Agreement
- Be the Subject Matter Expert in assigned markets on all Interconnection/incentive program requirements and processes and serve as a resource for internal stakeholders
- Builds relationships with utilities and foster collaboration
- Maintains database of utility requirements and timelines
- Perform additional tasks as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in renewable energy
- Demonstrated understanding of NEC, CBC, utility handbook and AHJ requirements to help push projects through utility reviews and resolve any issues that may arise
- Knowledge of interconnection processes and experience working with utilities is preferred
- Exposure to commercial PV design and installation processes is preferred
- Ability to read and understand plan sets
- Ability to work autonomously and escalate issues to upper management as needed
- Must be a motivated team player, looking to succeed
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
