About Us:

Zeitview is the leading intelligent aerial imaging company for high-value infrastructure, providing businesses with actionable, real-time insights to recover revenue, reduce risk and improve build quality. We serve customers in the solar, wind, insurance, construction, real estate, and critical infrastructure industries. Trusted by the largest enterprises in the world, Zeitview is active in over 70 countries. Our mission is to accelerate the global transition to renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure through advanced inspection solutions. Take a look at our latest achievements here!

About the Role:

As a Senior Mechatronics Engineer, you will be responsible for keeping our fleet of inspection hardware, from aircraft-mounted infrared sensors to custom drone payloads and crawler robots, running reliably in the field and applying what we learn to the next generation of our systems.

Your time will be split between supporting deployed systems and leading new design efforts. Field support involves remotely diagnosing off-nominal behavior, tracing it to root causes across mechanical, electrical, and software domains, and designing the fixes. You will also lead the design of new systems, bringing lessons from the field into the next build. If you enjoy SSH-ing into a misbehaving unit, reading the logs, and working out whether the culprit is a physical connector, a firmware state, or a tolerance stack, we want to hear from you.

This role will be based out of our office and lab space in Mountain View. You'll be expected to spend at least 3 days a week in the office, given the hands-on nature of the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose field deployed systems and drive root cause to resolution
  • Lead mechanical and electrical design improvements that address field failures and improve reliability, from CAD changes to parts, assemblies, and drawings to updates in circuits, wiring, and harnesses
  • Bring field experience and learnings into new sensor and payload designs, advocating for serviceability, diagnosability, and robustness from the start
  • Work closely with data capture software engineers, hardware technicians, and operations personnel to ensure fixes and improvements are successfully deployed
  • Guide junior engineers and technicians in debugging methods and root-cause thinking

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Aerospace Engineering (or a related field) and 5+ years of hands-on experience with complex electromechanical systems
  • Fluency in a professional CAD package (we use the Autodesk suite for parts, assemblies, and production drawings)
  • Comfort reading schematics and wiring diagrams covering sensors, compute, and power distribution
  • Working command-line skills, including SSH, navigating the filesystem, and pulling and filtering logs (e.g., journalctl, grep, tail)
  • A demonstrated, structured approach to diagnosing failures where the fault could be mechanical, electrical, or software, and the ability to explain your reasoning
  • Clear, concise writing and the ability to translate technical findings into actionable updates for cross-functional stakeholders
  • Ability to travel up to 5% of the time to support field deployments and operations at customer and partner sites
  • A track record of using AI tools to speed up engineering work, such as triaging logs, drafting scripts, or working through design problems, along with the discernment to recognize their limitations and verify their output

Day-to-Day Tools/Technical Environment:

  • Autodesk suite (Fusion 360, Fusion Electronics, Fusion Simulation)
  • Replica testbed systems for hardware in the loop validation testing
  • Scripting where helpful in Python and Bash
  • Enterprise level AI tooling available and encouraged

What’s Included:

  • Feel great about your work as you join a leading mission-driven intelligent aerial imaging company - our goal is to accelerate the global transition to renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure, and you personally will play a large part in making this happen!
  • Autonomy and upward mobility
  • Diverse, equitable, and inclusive culture: a place where your voice matters
  • Competive salary with an annual 12% bonus and stock options
  • Your choice of multiple medical insurance plans, including options with an HSA and 100% coverage of the premium for yourself and your dependents
  • 100% paid dental and vision insurance
  • Unlimited PTO: We mean it when we say we prioritize work-life balance and mental health

This role has a base salary range of $150,000 - $180,000 USD, plus a target annual bonus and eligibility for stock options. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and location within the USA.
