The Director, Consumer Products & Surfaces leads the product-specific strategy, development, and delivery of Pfizer's branded and select unbranded digital properties.
This individual will act as the product lead for all branded websites and owns the product execution of how brand content connects to the external surfaces where patients and consumers increasingly encounter it - search, AI assistants and answer engines, and syndication partners.
This is an individual contributor role for someone who can think in big-picture product strategy and drive hands-on execution. Working from the business case and strategy set by the Ecosystem Strategy team, the Director defines what branded surfaces should become as content consumption shifts from destinations to sources and delivers the roadmap that gets them there.
Role Responsibilities
Product Strategy & Definition
- Leads branded website development end-to-end, determining what a successful branded experience looks like and how it is measured.
- Decide which features and capabilities branded surfaces should prioritize, translating the ecosystem strategy, business case, consumer insight, and performance data into a coherent roadmap.
- Translate the ecosystem strategy for branded and unbranded surfaces into product decisions, partnering with Ecosystem Strategy on roles, audience handoffs, and journey logic across properties.
- Own the product execution of brand content connectivity to external surfaces - the content structures, infrastructure, and integrations that make branded content machine-readable and discoverable - partnering with Strategy on which surfaces to prioritize and the portfolio posture toward each.
- Champion human-centered design methodology to ensure product decisions are grounded in real consumer needs rather than assumption or internal preference.
Product Ownership & Delivery
- Own and execute the product roadmap for branded websites and other products, ensuring alignment with the business case, DPX strategy, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage the end-to-end product development lifecycle, including planning, definition, design, development, testing, and launch, and represent the voice of the consumer throughout.
- Partner with brand teams across therapeutic areas on requirements and content needs, translating them into the roadmap while maintaining consistent product and experience standards across properties.
- Use prototypes to test, learn, and iterate rapidly, moving from concept to validated direction with speed.
- Define, instrument, and track success metrics for branded surfaces, making evidence-based product decisions and holding the roadmap accountable to results, in partnership with Strategy on commercial performance measurement.
- Coordinate delivery with design and development teams to keep launches on schedule and ensure products ship to quality, identifying risks and removing roadblocks.
- Work with UX to uphold experience standards, ensuring branded experiences are consistent, high-quality, and built on the shared design system.
- Partner with Operations on launch sequencing, MLR coordination, and release management so product velocity is sustained without compromising compliance.
- Apply AI-enabled product and design tools (e.g. Adobe Target, Claude Design, Figma Make) to accelerate the path from concept to testable product.
- Maintain current knowledge of digital product practice, emerging technologies, and the shift in how content is discovered and consumed across AI-mediated surfaces.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Computer Science, or a related field required.
- 8+ years of experience of relevant work experience preferably in product management, with a proven record of owning digital product strategy and delivery end to end within a defined business strategy.
- Experience managing digital properties in a regulated environment, with working knowledge of MLR review or equivalent compliance processes.
- Strong analytical approach to decision-making, including the ability to conduct root-cause analysis to solve the underlying problem rather than the symptom.
- Demonstrated fluency with AI-enabled product, design, and prototyping tools, and a point of view on how AI is changing content discovery and consumption.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and experience working in an Agile development environment; working knowledge of Lean Startup.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives without direct authority, identify risks, and remove roadblocks to deliver on time and to standard.
- Courage to provide objective opinions, particularly when making go/no-go product decisions.
- Strong writing, presentation, and influencing skills.
- Discretion and trustworthiness in dealing with confidential information.
- Role model for the PFE Values (Courage, Excellence, Equity, Joy).
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep understanding of the healthcare ecosystem and pharmaceutical brand marketing, with direct experience partnering with brand teams.
- Experience with structured content, content syndication, or content architecture for machine-readable distribution (e.g. schema, APIs, MCP).
- Experience operating in a product organization with a distinct strategy function, and a clear point of view on the product/strategy partnership.
- Experience launching or scaling consumer-facing digital products.
- Experience delivering digital products across multiple brands or properties simultaneously.
