Platform Engineer (DevOps / Full-Stack Hybrid)

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT


As a Platform Engineer Principal, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of a mission- critical customer. You will play a crucial role in leading the deployment of a production system across three network environments. This is a hybrid role for a versatile, jack-of-all-trades engineer who is equally comfortable deploying and operating containerized systems via Kubernetes and diving into application code to modify system components. The ideal candidate thrives on ownership, working across the full stack and the full deployment lifecycle to stand up new production environments.


WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your technology expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The Platform Engineer Principal must have:


● Education: Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Science
● Experience: 8+ years of related experience

● US citizenship required

● Security clearance level: TOP SECRET//SCI W/ Polygraph


● Responsibilities:

  • Multi-Network Deployment: Deploy the RAD system to three different network environments via Kubernetes, adapting configurations to the constraints of each network.

  • Deployment Process Engineering: Design, establish, and document a repeatable deployment process and pipeline for delivering the system and its updates across all target networks.

  • Application Modification: Modify and troubleshoot system components built with Java Spring (back-end) and Vue.js (front-end) as needed to support deployment, configuration, and environment-specific requirements.

  • Environment Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues spanning infrastructure, middleware, and application layers during environment standup and stabilization.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the existing DevOps team, software developers, and system engineers to align deployment practices with the broader RAD architecture and operational standards.

● Required Technical Skills:

  • Hands-on experience deploying and managing containerized applications with Kubernetes

  • Experience developing or modifying applications built with Java / Spring (Spring Boot)

  • Experience developing or modifying front-end applications built with Vue.js (or strong experience with a comparable framework such as React or Angular)

  • Thorough understanding of Docker and container technology

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployments of distributed web applications (e.g., GitLab CI/CD)

  • Linux administration experience

  • Experience with Git


● Desired Technical skills:

  • Experience deploying applications across multiple isolated or classified network environments

  • AWS experience, including cloud-native architecture and deployment

  • Terraform scripting and VM provisioning

  • Ansible scripting and development

  • Python scripting and development

  • Familiarity with Elasticsearch, NiFi, or MongoDB

  • Familiarity with domain knowledge surrounding government agency reporting and dissemination policies

The likely salary range for this position is $153,000 - $207,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
