Position Summary

In an effort to promote the advancement of the profession of pharmacy and develop a pipeline for future leaders within the organization, this one-year, post graduate fellowship focuses on advancing skills in pharmacy practice management while enhancing leadership abilities. Offering pharmacy fellowship programs such as this allows CVS Health to remain competitive in a growing marketplace and strengthen our relationship with colleges of pharmacy nationwide.

Job Description:

The CVS Health Clinical Quality Evolution Fellowship is a one-year program designed to immerse two post-graduate pharmacists in the corporate pharmacy setting, with a focus on clinical decision support and quality standards. The two fellows will join the Retail Clinical & Quality standards team within Pharmacy Operations at the corporate office in Woonsocket, RI from July 1st, 2027, to June 30th, 2028.

This program is designed to cultivate future CVS Health leaders and offers comprehensive training and development, mentorship from business leaders, and opportunities to support impactful projects. Throughout the fellowship year, fellows gain hands-on experience through a variety of clinical, quality, operational, and professional development opportunities, including:

  • Conducting clinical research to deliver evidence-based recommendations to support cross-functional teams and projects

  • Reviewing marketing materials to ensure clinical accuracy through evidence-based evaluation and recommendations

  • Supporting the implementation of regulatory and quality standards related to nonsterile compounding, accreditation programs, hazardous drug handling, and Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) programs

  • Building an expansive professional network of business leaders and colleagues across the CVS Health enterprise

  • Precepting final-year student pharmacists completing an Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience with our corporate team

  • Collaborating with local pharmacy residents completing the University of Rhode Island Teaching Certificate program and presenting an ACPE-accredited continuing education (CE) program for pharmacists

  • Partnering with a local CVS District Leader and helping staff a retail pharmacy location one day per week to gain insight into pharmacist workflow, operations, and current pharmacy initiatives in practice

In addition, fellows will have the unique opportunity to gain exposure to other teams and areas of the business, which may include but are not limited to:

  • Patient Safety & DUR

  • Immunizations

  • Controlled Substance Management

  • Retail Pharmacy Compliance

  • Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies (REMS) Programs

  • Pharmacy Operations

  • Marketing

  • Product Innovation and Development

  • Pharmacy Benefits Management

  • Oak Street Health

Upon review of your application, you may expect:

  • A request to complete a recorded video interview

  • An initial virtual interview with a member of the fellowship team

Select interview finalists may expect:

  • A request to submit the following materials:

    • A letter of intent describing personal goals as they relate to corporate fellowship training

    • One letter of recommendation preferably from a preceptor or manager

    • One professional writing sample (e.g. journal club, research response, etc.)

  • A final interview day with members of the fellowship selection committee and program directors, which also includes:

    • Preparing and presenting a PowerPoint presentation on an assigned community pharmacy-related topic to a live audience of licensed pharmacists and other corporate business professionals

    • Completing a series of clinical research questions for which your approach and responses will be evaluated


Required Qualifications

  • PharmD candidate from an ACPE accredited program

  • Live within or able to relocate to a commutable distance to the corporate office located in Woonsocket, RI

  • Currently licensed or eligible for pharmacist licensure in the state of Rhode Island

  • Effective communication, presentation, and clinical-research skills

  • Strong writing ability; proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • Working knowledge of drug information resources, clinical trial data, and statistical analysis

  • Displays the accountability and professionalism necessary to successfully work in a corporate environment

  • Desire to learn and be receptive to feedback

  • Demonstrates the strong attention to detail necessary to independently deliver accurate, professional final work products

  • Travel requirements may include training programs, professional meetings, and conferences (as applicable)

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$49,750.00 - $71,250.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
