We're looking for an experienced, highly technical, and strategically minded Director to lead our cross-functional teams in building and deploying next-generation products using Salesforce CRM and Agentic AI capabilities for the AI30 initiatives. You will be the crucial link between technical execution and business strategy, ensuring our teams deliver high-quality, reusable, and scalable solutions that drive significant business value for our commercial and medical functions across US and global markets. This role requires a unique blend of deep technical expertise, architectural vision, hands-on solution development, strong leadership to build and guide offshore teams, and excellent communication skills to translate internal knowledge into business-friendly use cases.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership, Hands-On Solution Development & Architecture

  • Product Architect & Vision: Act as a Product Architect, defining the technical vision and high-level design for Salesforce CRM and Agentic AI workstreams. Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and maintainable.

  • Hands-On Solution Development: Act as a player-coach who is hands-on in developing solutions, writing/reviewing code, and rapid prototyping within the Salesforce ecosystem including Life Sciences Cloud, Agentforce and AWS AgentCore.

  • Advanced AI Implementation: Drive the technical implementation of Generative and Agentic AI capabilities to deliver accurate, contextually relevant, and customized solutions translating AstraZeneca's internal knowledge base into practical, business-friendly use cases.

  • Technical Direction: Provide hands-on technical leadership and guidance across multiple teams, including Salesforce engineers, Data Science, Data Engineering, and UX.

  • Promote Reusability: Champion and enforce best practices for code quality, component reusability, and modular design to accelerate development and reduce technical debt.

  • Global Scaling Strategy: Architect and scale applications to address complex functional and non-functional requirements (performance, latency, localization, and compliance) seamlessly across both US and Ex-US markets.

  • Cross-Market Standardization: Ensure robust global deployment frameworks that accommodate regional regulatory nuances while maintaining a unified core architecture and exceptional User Experience (UX) for global commercial and medical teams.

Offshore Team Leadership & Delivery Management

  • Offshore Team Building: Build, mentor, and guide offshore engineering teams, establishing rigorous engineering standards, code review processes, and agile delivery rhythms.

  • Global Delivery Execution: Provide clear technical direction, architectural blueprints, and user stories to offshore partners, ensuring tight alignment with US and global product roadmaps.

  • Cross-Functional Delivery: Lead the technical delivery of complex products from concept through launch, ensuring on-time and high-quality results.

Compliance, Security, & Governance

  • Risk & Compliance Oversight: Proactively engage with Compliance, Legal, Medical-Legal Regulatory (MLR), and Security Teams throughout the product lifecycle to ensure all solutions adhere to stringent regulatory requirements and internal security policies.

  • Secure by Design: Embed security and privacy requirements into the architectural design from the start, overseeing technical implementation to ensure compliance is non-negotiable and does not impede delivery timelines.

Stakeholder Alignment & Communication

  • Business Partnership: Work closely with Commercial and Medical Product Owners to translate product roadmaps and business requirements into clear, actionable technical specifications.

  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Engage actively with stakeholders from critical teams, including the Sales Force Team, field excellence, and Analytics, to gather requirements, integrate products with their platforms, and ensure high utility.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, life sciences, engineering, business administration, or a related quantitative field.

  • 8+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, CRM architecture, or related technical roles, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership or delivery-focused role managing teams.

  • Deep familiarity with the pharmaceutical commercial and medical affairs domains (e.g., HCP engagement, MSL workflows, omnichannel orchestration).

  • Expert-level hands-on experience developing within the Salesforce CRM platform (including Life Sciences Cloud and modern cloud integration patterns).

  • Proven experience building, managing, and scaling offshore engineering teams in a global delivery model.

  • Practical experience with Generative AI and Agentic AI technologies (e.g., agentic architecture, RAG architectures, prompt engineering).

  • Proven experience working with Compliance and Security Teams to deliver regulated products, with a strong understanding of data governance and privacy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience leading teams building production-grade Data Science or Machine Learning products in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.

  • Deep understanding of AWS cloud architecture patterns, Amazon Bedrock, or modern cloud data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake).

  • Direct experience integrating advanced AI capabilities with enterprise CRM platforms like Salesforce.
