Marsh is seeking candidates for our open Placement Specialist position. This is a hybrid schedule and will be in the office 3x per week.
Marsh is hiring an experienced Placement Specialist to help expand and formalize an Education vertical within our Umbrella & Excess Casualty placement platform. This role will support complex education accounts and programs, partner closely with client and production teams, and help build repeatable placement strategies and market relationships across the education segment. The ideal candidate has strong judgment and follow-through, is comfortable operating independently, and brings a high-integrity, solutions-oriented approach to sophisticated placements.

In this Sr. Placement Specialist role, you will develop an understanding of the clients' business strategic priorities, risk strategies and risk management needs to help provide knowledge and advice to complex clients.
Builds and maintains relationships with underwriters, and is involved in the placement of sophisticated insurance programs
Helps identify the need for new products and develops innovative solutions for clients.
Completes policy management activities and delivery of reviewed policy to client and helps address client inquiries as necessary.
Delivers technical expertise in the delivery and presentation of RFP’s

We will count on you to:
Lead and execute umbrella and excess casualty placements for education clients, including complex and layered programs with tight timelines.
Develop placement strategy and carrier engagement plans tailored to education risks (higher education, K–12, affiliated entities, etc., as applicable).
Build and maintain strong relationships with carrier partners and underwriters to drive outcomes on pricing, terms, and capacity.
Coordinate submission development and underwriting data flow; identify gaps, anticipate underwriter questions, and support a strong risk narrative.
Support negotiation of coverage terms and structure (limits, attachments, retentions, follow-form vs. standalone considerations, as relevant to the program).
Partner with client-facing colleagues to deliver a high-quality experience through clear communication, proactive coordination, and strong execution.
Contribute to building the education placement “platform”: market intelligence, best practices, playbooks, benchmarking, and lessons learned to improve consistency and scalability.
Help develop and scale our education-specific placement offering (“education tower”), including documenting a repeatable approach and partnering with stakeholders, while maintaining appropriate discretion externally.
What you need to have:
3–5+ years of relevant experience in casualty placement, underwriting, broking, or excess/umbrella casualty.
Strong understanding of excess casualty program structure and placement workflow.
Demonstrated ability to manage priorities independently and deliver accurate work under time pressure.
P&C license a must, or ability to obtain
Bachelors' degree preferred
