RN Operating Room (OR) - Full-Time

Schedule: Full Time, 40 hours/week, (4) 10-hours shifts
Shift: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
Call Requirement: 3-5 call shifts per 6-week schedule. Must be able to arrive at the hospital within 30 minutes when on call.

About the Role

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Waxahachie is seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse to deliver safe, high-quality perioperative patient care across a variety of surgical specialties. Responsibilities include assisting anesthesia providers during induction, patient positioning, coordinating and verifying surgical counts with the scrub technologist, leading key patient safety practices such as time-outs and debriefs, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation throughout the surgical experience.

Required Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
Current RN license.
Minimum of 1 year of experience as a circulating Operating Room RN.
Experience across multiple specialties including Robotics, General Surgery, Gynecology, Urology, Neuro, and Orthopedics preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
Ability to both circulate and scrub surgical cases.
Strong teamwork, communication, and critical thinking skills.

Job Summary

The Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional. The RN uses the BSWH nursing model to coordinate patient care. Using the nursing process, the RN assesses the patient and identifies nursing diagnoses. The RN develops and implements an individualized care plan and evaluates the patient's response. The RN promotes safe passage for patients by using knowledge of patient needs. The RN helps patients transition through healthcare without preventable complications or delays. The RN delegates interventions based on the Texas Nursing Practice Act, patient condition, and employee competencies.

Essential Functions of the Role

• Clinical Judgment: Using clinical reasoning, conducts accurate assessments according to standards. Identifies and prioritizes patient and family needs. Develops, implements, and evaluates the nursing care plan. Modifies plan to meet outcomes.
• Clinical Inquiry: Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice, including nursing indicators. Helps evidence-based practice changes through research and learning. Participates in quality improvement initiatives.

• EDUCATION - Grad of an Accredited Program or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification

• Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
