TEKsystems is seeking an experienced CAD Designer/Drafter to support technical drawing development and documentation efforts for a government-focused engineering environment. This role is responsible for creating, revising, and maintaining detailed engineering drawings, bills of materials, and installation documentation while ensuring compliance with engineering standards, configuration management processes, and manufacturing requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Active Secret Clearance
- 5+ years of experience producing detailed technical drawings, including:
- Interface Control Documents (ICDs)
- Rack Elevations
- Network Topologies
- Bills of Material (BOMs)
- Other engineering and technical documentation
- 5+ years of experience interpreting engineering sketches, specifications, and design requirements to create production-quality drawings
- 5+ years of experience using CAD tools such as:
- CATIA
- AutoCAD
- NX
- SolidWorks
- Ability to create and modify:
- Production-detail drawings
- BOMs
- Drawing notes
- Strong knowledge of:
- Engineering drawing standards
- Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Scaling and sectioning techniques
- Configuration control processes
- High School Diploma and 5+ years of related professional experience in a manufacturing, aerospace, or similar engineering environment
Key Responsibilities
- Create and revise detailed part, assembly, and installation drawings using CAD/CAM and CATIA-based tools.
- Develop and maintain bills of materials, material callouts, finish specifications, tolerances, and drawing notes necessary for manufacturing and assembly.
- Complete and enhance engineering layouts developed by others, ensuring accuracy, manufacturability, and compliance with engineering intent.
- Recommend and document design improvements that increase manufacturability, assembly efficiency, quality, and cost effectiveness.
- Support engineering and inspection teams by providing drawing clarifications, redlines, revisions, and controlled release documentation.
- Ensure all documentation adheres to company drafting standards, engineering practices, and configuration management requirements.
- Participate in peer reviews and support configuration management (CM) and quality assurance (QA) audits, documenting and resolving findings as needed.
- Assist with the development and improvement of modeling processes that align with enterprise engineering requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) environments or programs.
- Experience working with data centers.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Visio.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple organizational levels.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently while contributing to team success.
