ClinicalKey provides access to a vast library of trusted medical content, including textbooks, peer-reviewed journals, drug monographs, clinical overviews, and procedural videos. The platform is designed to support both quick answers at the point of care and in-depth clinical research. Key initiatives include enhancing the user experience across responsive web and mobile platforms, optimizing workflow integrations with healthcare systems such as Epic, and expanding the capabilities of ClinicalKey AI, a generative AI-powered search experience grounded exclusively in verified medical literature.

Reporting to the UX Manager, the UX Designer will play a critical role in evolving this flagship product by owning the end-to-end user experience and delivering intuitive, accessible, and impactful solutions for healthcare users operating in high-stakes environments.

The ideal candidate brings strong visual design skills, expertise in responsive and mobile experiences, a deep understanding of accessibility standards, experience working within mature design systems, and a proven ability to thrive in agile, cross-functional product teams. They should also be comfortable leveraging AI-powered tools and emerging technologies to enhance design workflows and product innovation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end UX design process for ClinicalKey, from discovery and concept development through delivery and optimization.
  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Engineering Leads, Researchers, and other stakeholders within an agile product squad.
  • Design intuitive user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visual experiences for responsive web, mobile, and hybrid applications.
  • Create user experiences that help healthcare professionals quickly find trusted clinical information and make informed decisions.
  • Design and optimize experiences related to AI-powered search, content discovery, workflow integration, and clinical reference tools.
  • Ensure all experiences meet accessibility standards and support inclusive design best practices.
  • Leverage and contribute to enterprise design systems to maintain consistency and scalability across products.
  • Support research efforts, including usability testing, user interviews, feedback sessions, and synthesis of research findings.
  • Use AI-powered design tools to accelerate ideation, prototyping, content generation, and workflow efficiency.
  • Present design concepts and recommendations with clear rationale based on user insights, data, and UX best practices.
  • Collaborate across disciplines to build consensus and drive user-centered design decisions.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in UX Design, Product Design, or Interaction Design for digital products.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design, visual design excellence, and complex problem-solving.
  • Experience designing responsive web, mobile, and hybrid application experiences.
  • Exceptional visual design skills, including typography, hierarchy, layout, and interaction design.
  • Strong understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and experience creating accessible digital experiences.
  • Experience building, maintaining, and working within design systems.
  • Proven experience collaborating within agile, cross-functional teams.
  • Experience conducting or supporting user research and usability testing activities.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled design workflows and tools.
  • Ability to simplify complex systems and workflows into intuitive user experiences.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for creating elegant, user-focused solutions.
Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of New York, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $60.00/hr.
