Position Summary
As a member of the Investments team, the Associate will play an active role in evaluating investment opportunities, executing transactions, managing portfolio investments, and supporting relationships with market participants across climate-aligned sectors. Investments primarily include infrastructure and asset-backed debt transactions, as well as select equity investments.
Key Responsibilities
Investment Origination & Structuring
- Research market trends, financing opportunities, and emerging sectors within clean energy and sustainable infrastructure.
- Support investment origination, screening, underwriting, and structuring activities.
- Develop financial models, term sheets, investment memoranda, and investment committee presentations.
- Analyze transactions and assess investment risks and opportunities.
Transaction Execution
- Support due diligence, underwriting, and transaction execution activities.
- Prepare materials for internal approval processes and investment committee reviews.
- Coordinate with legal counsel, consultants, technical advisors, and transaction counterparties.
- Support transaction negotiations, documentation review, and closings.
Portfolio Management
- Support portfolio monitoring, reporting, and performance analysis.
- Prepare quarterly and annual investment reviews.
- Assist with portfolio amendments, waivers, consents, and compliance activities.
- Partner with Risk, Legal, Operations, and Finance teams to support ongoing portfolio management.
Strategy & Business Development
- Support relationship management with sponsors, borrowers, developers, co-investors, and capital providers.
- Contribute to the development of innovative financing solutions that advance CGC's mission.
- Collaborate across teams to support strategic initiatives and process improvements.
- Mentor Analysts and support team development efforts.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience.
- Relevant experience may include graduate studies, internships, analyst programs, investment banking, consulting, project finance, infrastructure finance, structured finance, private credit, asset-backed lending, renewable energy, or other directly applicable experience.
- Strong financial modeling, underwriting, analytical, and quantitative skills.
- Demonstrated ability to support transaction execution, due diligence, and investment analysis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Experience in clean energy, infrastructure, transportation, or climate-focused investments.
- Experience with project finance, structured finance, private credit, or asset-backed lending.
- Experience supporting transactions from origination through closing.
- Progress toward CFA designation, MBA coursework, or other relevant professional certifications.
Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this role is $118,000 - $150,000. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and overall qualifications. This role is eligible for bonus or incentive compensation.
