About the Role
We are seeking motivated and reliable Business Administrator Apprentice to join our UK Network Planning Group (NPG) team. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast‑paced logistics environment while working towards a nationally recognised apprenticeship qualification.
The position of a UK NPG Commercial Air & Network Apprentice is to work alongside and assist our operations teams in daily decisions while understanding the potential greater impact to the EU network. Working with internal stake holders on upholding DHLs contractual obligations to commercial operators in the UK. To lead in rollout of operational procedures, routings, and compliance relating to commercial air processes and practise.
The role provides practical exposure across Network Planning activities, supporting the safe, accurate and timely movement of freight through the hub. You will be an integral part of the team, learning core logistics and aviation/transport processes under the guidance of experienced colleagues.
Key Responsibilities ✈️💻
- Learning to support LHR hub with capacity management
- Daily warehouse walkarounds, liaising with supervisors
- Booking checks for commercial & network allocations, you will learn how to book flights with a carrier
- Learning how to increase/decrease capacity
- Supporting with Network Routing Updates & Freight Transit Routing Updates
- Completing Schedule changes – Summer & Winter
- daily changes to organise
- Complete flight sheet allocations & daily update creations
- Report on performance of daily operations
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Work in line with all Health & Safety, security, and operational procedures.
- Wear appropriate PPE and follow safe manual handling techniques when in the warehouse.
- Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly.
- Comply with regulatory and company standards at all times.
Learning & Development
- Complete all elements of the apprenticeship programme, including off‑the‑job training and course work.

- Take responsibility for personal learning, development, and performance.
- Gather workplace evidence and participate in assessments as required.
- Rotate across operational areas to build broad hub knowledge.
What We’re Looking For 🌟
Essential
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a time‑critical environment.
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow processes accurately.
- Flexibility required to work at East Midlands Airport & Southern Distribution Centre to gain additional knowledge and support job role
- Physically able to undertake manual handling tasks, if required.
- Willingness to complete required security and background checks.
Desirable
- GCSEs (or equivalent such as Functional Skills) in English and Maths grade 4 +.
- Interest in logistics, operations, or aviation/transport environments.
- Good IT skills.
