About the Role

GlossGenius is quickly scaling across its AI-native platform and new business areas, growing in ways that bring meaningful new complexity. Legal is an important part of that foundation, and we need a sharp, pragmatic legal leader who can keep pace with a business that's moving fast. You'll be a true enabler of how we scale, partnering directly with leadership to clear the path for the business through thoughtful risk management and judgement. This is a high-ownership, high-visibility, high judgement role with broad scope across commercial, corporate, employment, privacy, and regulatory matters.

You will report to the Chief Business Officer. This role is based in New York City and operates in an in-person environment. We are in the office for most of the work week.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the full legal function at GlossGenius, covering commercial contracts, corporate governance, employment, data privacy, and regulatory compliance
  • Serve as the primary legal partner to the CEO, CBO, and the entire exec team, proactively advising on strategic initiatives, partnerships, intellectual property, trademark protection and the day-to-day decisions that enable the growth of the business
  • Draft, negotiate, and close a wide range of agreements including enterprise contracts, vendor deals, partnership agreements, and financing-related documents
  • Build the legal infrastructure that scales with us: contract templates, playbooks, approval workflows, and internal policies that give the business speed and confidence
  • Advise on employment and people matters, serving as a trusted resource as the company scales and the complexity of our workforce grows
  • Manage outside counsel strategically, with an eye toward keeping spend efficient and outcomes sharp
  • Shape our approach to the legal and regulatory considerations surrounding AI products and data, as we continue building deeply AI-native capabilities
  • Lead the transformation of legal operations by identifying where AI systems and tools can eliminate low-leverage work, accelerate contract review and drafting, and make the function meaningfully more efficient at scale

What We’re Looking For

  • JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership (NY preferred)
  • 10+ years of legal experience, with meaningful time at a top-tier law firm and in-house at a high-growth tech company
  • Broad generalist range across commercial, corporate, employment, privacy, and regulatory matters — you're not a one-practice-area lawyer
  • Strong commercial instincts and the ability to give the business clear, decisive guidance without a lot of back-and-forth
  • Deep familiarity with the evolving legal landscape around AI, including IP, data licensing, model usage, and regulatory considerations
  • Already using AI tools across your whole workflow and able to use them to meaningfully change how you’re running a legal team of the future
  • Low ego, high ownership mentality — you're the most senior legal voice here and you're still happy to be hands-on

Benefits & Perks

  • Flexible PTO
  • Competitive health & dental insurance options, with premiums partially covered by GG
  • Fertility and adoption benefits via Carrot and Kindbody
  • Generous, fully-paid parental leave policy
  • 401k benefit - employees are eligible to contribute starting day 1 of employment
  • Professional Development - employees receive a yearly stipend for approved learning and educational-related expenses
  • Pre-tax commuter benefits
  • Dependent Care FSA
  • Home office support
  • Team Bonding opportunities - annual company retreat for entire team, plus virtual events throughout the year

The base salary for this role is between $225,000 and $285,000 + equity + benefits. The compensation package offered is dependent upon many factors including skills, experience, location, and education. The range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Additionally, this role is currently eligible to participate in GlossGenius's equity plan as well as a range of health & wellbeing, retirement savings, and other benefits within our total rewards offering.
