The Whole Foods Market (WFM) Merchant Capabilities team is looking for a Product Manager to shape the future of the supplier experience at WFM. This role will represent the voice of the supplier, ensuring a seamless migration from legacy tools to next-generation systems that raise the bar for the supplier and merchant experience.
As a successful candidate, you are customer obsessed: relentlessly advocating on behalf of the supplier experience and using a combination of anecdotes and data to uncover customer pain points. You deeply understand how technical and programmatic aspects of your domain come together to create the supplier experience, and you take an active role in influencing teams to create an excellent customer experience.
You execute against and contribute to a roadmap of improvements in partnership with Tech, Program, Operations, and Category teams. You ensure that product features, reporting, analytics, piloting, and training plans are all consistent with the desired customer experience. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. High judgment, ability to influence, exceptional organization and communication skills, and leadership are essential to success in this role. This role requires clear articulation of complex problems and proposed solutions across a broad set of stakeholders.
Key job responsibilities Stakeholder Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: Understand the needs of your customers (WFM Vendors and Merchants) and drive decisions on product features and operational models. Synthesize supplier/merchant feedback and performance data to identify improvement opportunities. Build business cases and work with technical product managers and engineering teams to refine proposals into development-ready requirements. Collaborate with UX designers on mockups and prototypes for approval.
Onboarding Reporting & Analytics: Build and maintain dashboards to track supplier onboarding metrics (e.g., activation rates, time-to-onboard, error rates, satisfaction). Develop KPIs to inform operational adjustments and feature improvements. Establish reporting cadences and conduct deep-dive analyses to identify opportunities.
Pilot Programs & Feature Testing: Design and run pilot programs with select WFM suppliers to test new features, integrations, and workflows before broader rollout. Manage the pilot lifecycle—planning, execution, data collection, and post-pilot analysis—to validate readiness for scaled deployment.
SOPs, Landing Pages & Training Materials: Own the creation and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for merchants and suppliers related to tech products. Develop supplier-facing landing pages, onboarding guides, and training materials to ensure users can leverage self-service tools. Drive change management across cross-functional stakeholders.
Product Documentation: Author and maintain product artifacts—including BRDs, one-pagers, and feature briefs—that articulate the problem, proposed solution, success metrics, and trade-offs. Use these to align stakeholders and secure prioritization from technical teams.
A day in the life Your day might start by reviewing onboarding metrics to identify suppliers stalled in the migration pipeline. You join a stand-up with the migration team to discuss blockers and align on priorities. Mid-morning, you lead a gap analysis review with engineering and operations partners, walking through feature gaps between the legacy and new supplier portals. After lunch, you call a pilot cohort of WFM suppliers to gather feedback, documenting pain points and quick wins. You wrap up by updating merchant SOPs, drafting a training deck for the next onboarding phase, and preparing a roadmap recommendation for leadership.
