Overview
Join our dynamic English Language Department as the Assistant Chair, a pivotal role dedicated to fostering academic excellence, innovative curriculum development, and effective department management. In this energetic position, you will collaborate closely with faculty and administration to enhance teaching quality, oversee departmental projects, and support strategic initiatives. Responsibilities
Assist the Department Chair in managing daily operations, ensuring smooth administrative workflows and effective communication across faculty and staff.
Lead curriculum development efforts by designing, reviewing, and updating courses to meet academic standards and emerging trends in language education.
Oversee departmental budgeting processes, monitor expenditures, and allocate resources efficiently to support departmental goals.
Coordinate recruitment efforts for faculty and staff, including participating in hiring processes and onboarding new team members.
Support academic advising initiatives by mentoring students, guiding research projects, and facilitating career development opportunities.
Contribute to grant proposal writing to secure funding for research projects, program enhancements, or departmental initiatives.
Organize faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and departmental events that foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
Engage in higher education teaching responsibilities as needed, delivering lectures or seminars that inspire student engagement.
Deliver high-quality, engaging ESL instruction within our student-centered, four-skills framework, inspiring adult learners to achieve spoken fluency.
Requirements
Proven experience in university-level teaching with a strong background in English language instruction or related fields.
Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Expertise in budgeting, resource allocation, and financial planning within an academic setting.
Strong leadership qualities with experience in education administration and team management.
Skilled in curriculum development aligned with current pedagogical standards and institutional objectives.
Excellent writing skills for grant proposals, reports, and academic publications.
Familiarity with research methodologies pertinent to language education or higher education scholarship.
Previous experience working with students through academic advising or mentoring roles.
