Lead the DevOps CI/CD requirements practice. Define standards for gathering and documenting requirements. Approve changes to the standards. Ensure consistent delivery of requirements across all modern application systems, with a primary focus on containerized workloads. Generate and revise virtual cloud server, operating system, application, and network standards as they relate to open-source software and modern containerization platforms (Kubernetes, EKS, ECS, or related). Ensure delivered platforms meet functional and technical requirements. Lead the development of highly available, auto-scaling, self-healing, secure, and cost-effective cloud platforms. Ensure all phases are automated, managed and deployed via Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and GitOps practices. Advocate for new platforms when necessary. Advocate for new build and deployment platforms. Align new applications with the DevOps CI/CD practice and modern architecture standards and best practices. Collaborate with application development teams and Product owners, Security, Infrastructure Engineering, and Enterprise Architecture teams in creating world class, best of breed solutions. Consult with multiple stakeholders to expand the adoption of the DevOps CI/CD pipeline methodology. Collaboratively define and improve the DevOps CI/CD practice. Lead the development of CI/CD pipelines and toolchain standards. Ensure standards are being followed. Approve changes being made to the standards. Define the modern infrastructure architecture development lifecycle. Implement improvements to the DevOps practice and software delivery processes. Coach other DevOps engineers through the development life cycle. Lead the design and development of monitoring, discovery, reporting, alerting and analytic systems and tools. Collaborate with SRE and monitoring teams. Research, design, and implement the use of open-source software solutions where feasible and appropriate. Ensure applicable license compliance, security, and quality of open-source solutions. Collaborate with product teams, operations management, and stakeholders to optimize system feedback. Monitor and provide guidance to other DevOps engineers. Coach other DevOps engineers with identifying opportunities that improve Discount Tire's modern architecture, cloud-based infrastructure, and software delivery capabilities, including industry trends, research organizations, user groups, and technical conferences. Complete work in a timely and accurate manner while providing exceptional customer service. Mentor and coach DevOps Engineers. Other duties as assigned Education and Experience Requirements Requires a U.S. Bachelor’s Degree or foreign academic equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience and eight years (8) years of progressive DevOps or Platform Engineer experience, with hands on experience in Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure design, automation, and administration. Special Skills Requirements Requires industry experience and demonstrated expert-level knowledge of creating, deploying, and managing Docker containers using CI/CD deployment tools (i.e., Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitHub, GitLab, or related). Requires industry experience and demonstrated expert-level knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools (i.e., CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, etc.) within container orchestration platforms, specifically Kubernetes, AWS ECS, and/or EKS. Requires industry experience and demonstrated specialized expertise in multiple technologies, including but not limited to: cloud networking (VPCs, CIDRs, subnets, AZs, NAT gateways, route tables, NACLs, SGs, Route53, etc.); common web stacks; cloud infrastructure and services (EC2, EBS, ALB/NLB, EKS, ECS, CloudFront, CloudWatch, S3, SQS, ACM, API Gateway, Lambda, etc.); security (Secrets Manager, WAF, SAST/DAST scanning), monitoring (Grafana, Dynatrace, dashboards, etc.); CI/CD pipeline development; source code management; and infrastructure automation. Requires industry experience and demonstrated expertise in building CI/CD pipelines with automated build tools including Atlassian Bitbucket, Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or related. Requires industry experience and demonstrated ability to identify complex problems, review information to develop and evaluate options, and implement solutions. Requires industry experience with: (1) Common cloud infrastructure systems, including but not limited to: Amazon Web Services, Azure, Linux, Microsoft Windows Server, virtualization, server clustering, LDAP or Active Directory, IAM Role and Policy management, enterprise backup, storage, network topologies and protocols, API gateways, DNS/DHCP, and general networking concepts; (2) Advanced skills with Microsoft office, including skills with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio; (3) Customer service best practices; and (4) Software development lifecycle.
