What you’ll be doing
Are you ready to join our Transport Platform team and help shape the next phase of our transformation?
Part of the Consumer Lending Business Unit, our mission is to keep Britain moving by delivering customer-focused solutions for vehicle access, maintenance and digital account management, while supporting the UK’s sustainability agenda.
We’re transforming our core technology through modern, cloud-native architecture, microservices and a new data ecosystem, alongside embedding DevOps and Agile ways of working to increase team autonomy and impact.
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you’ll work within a feature team to design, build and integrate software, partnering with Engineering Leads, Product Owners and Quality Engineers to deliver high-quality outcomes.
This is a hands-on role, focused on developing and supporting production-grade code, with an emphasis on scalable, reusable solutions. You’ll also ensure enterprise-level controls such as parallelism, resilience and cost optimisation across the services you build and operate.
In this role you’ll:
Feel motivated by the opportunity to make a lasting positive impact
Contribute to the delivery of secure, scalable, and high‑quality DevOps capabilities across cloud‑native platforms. You’ll work closely with colleagues to drive outcomes and support team autonomy.
Design, build, and operate CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Harness, Jenkins, GitHub, and Terraform, including federation patterns such as overrides and config maps. You’ll help teams across the platform deploy confidently and independently.
Engineer Kubernetes‑native solutions across Public and Private Cloud environments, including workload orchestration, Istio‑based networking, and storage class management. You’ll play a key role in ensuring platform resilience and scalability.
Embed security and compliance into automated workflows by integrating tools such as SonarQube and AquaSec. You’ll contribute to strong guardrails and quality‑first engineering practices.
Automate manual processes and supporting the development of self‑service capabilities across teams. You’ll promote an automation‑first approach and reduce operational overhead through robust pipeline and platform engineering.
Work effectively with a range of collaborators across complex platforms, communicating clearly with both technical and non‑technical audiences.
Contribute to team planning and supporting the evolution of DevOps capabilities to meet future business needs.
Help to foster a culture of enablement, where DevOps capabilities are federated and teams can own and operate their delivery pipelines.
Share knowledge and collaborate within Communities of Practice, supporting continuous improvement through hands‑on learning and experimentation.

Experience designing, building, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Harness, Jenkins, GitHub, and Terraform, including federation patterns such as overrides and config maps.
Background in Engineering Kubernetes‑native solutions in GCP environments, covering workload orchestration, Istio‑based networking, and storage class management.
Experience working with GCP platform services, including databases such as Spanner, BigQuery, and AlloyDB/CloudSQL, as well as GCS buckets and IAM permissions and controls.
Experience Integrating security and quality tools such as SonarQube and AquaSec into automated pipelines to ensure compliance and maintain strong guardrails.
Background in automating manual processes to improve efficiency and enable self‑service capabilities, applying an automation‑first approach.
Experience working with multiple collaborators across complex platforms and communicating effectively across technical and non‑technical groups.
Experience with Liquibase for database schema management and familiarity with Nexus Repository for artefact management (advantageous).
Exposure to observability platforms such as Dynatrace (advantageous).
Experience supporting teams in investigating issues and contributing to remediation plans as part of root‑cause analysis after high‑impact incidents (desirable).
