Why be a Quarantine Sampling Technician at Bentley Labs?

The Quarantine Sampling Technician is responsible for the collection, handling, labeling, and delivery of representative samples of incoming raw materials in accordance with approved procedures and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP). This position plays a critical role in maintaining material control and supporting Quality Assurance and Quality Control operations by ensuring samples are collected accurately, safely, and in a manner that prevents contamination or mix-ups.

As a Quarantine Sampling Technician, you’ll:

Material Sampling

  • Collect representative samples of incoming raw materials and packaging components according to approved sampling procedures.
  • Verify material identity, lot numbers, status labels, and associated documentation prior to sampling.
  • Utilize proper aseptic and contamination-control techniques during sample collection.
  • Label and document all samples accurately and completely.
  • Operate a forklift to put approved material into inventory

Inventory and Material Control

  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of quarantine and sampling areas.
  • Assist with movement of materials between quarantine, approved, and rejected locations.
  • Verify material status labels and report discrepancies to Quality Assurance.
  • Support cycle counts and inventory reconciliation activities as required.

Documentation

  • Complete sampling logs, batch documentation, material inspection records, and laboratory submission forms accurately and legibly.
  • Maintain compliance with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with approved SOPs, specifications, and cGMP requirements.

Compliance and Safety

  • Follow all company safety policies and GMP requirements.
  • Wear required PPE and maintain cleanroom and hygiene standards where applicable.
  • Report quality, safety, and compliance concerns immediately.
  • Participate in internal audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What skills and experience do I need for this role?

  • 1-3 years of experience in pharmaceutical, OTC drug, cosmetic, food, or related regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with material sampling, GMP documentation, inventory control, or warehouse operations preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Understanding of cGMP requirements and Good Documentation Practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow written procedures and work independently.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with Production, Warehouse, Quality Assurance, and Laboratory personnel.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb stairs throughout the workday.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, hairnets, beard covers, and protective footwear.
  • Ability to access warehouse racks, manufacturing vessels, and storage areas.

Preferred Experience

  • FDA-regulated pharmaceutical, OTC drug, cosmetic, dietary supplement, or food manufacturing.
  • Raw material and packaging component sampling.
  • Water sampling.
  • Environmental monitoring sampling.
  • SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or other ERP systems.
  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification).

  • Sampling right-first-time rate.
  • Documentation error rate.
  • Material release cycle time support.
  • Audit readiness and GMP compliance.
  • Sampling equipment inspection and maintenance compliance.
