Sushi Nara is located at #150-2362 Whatcom Rd., Abbotsford, BC V3G 0C1. We are currently looking for a permanent, full time Japanese First Cook (Japanese Sushi Foods). Position: First Cook (Sushi foods) Wage: CAD$27.00-37.00/hour (depending on skills and experiences) Types: Full-time, Permanent (various shifts, including morning, evening, weekends, and holidays) Working hours: 30-40 hours/week Benefits: 4% of vacation pay Job Duties: • Prepare and cook a wide variety of high-quality sushi dishes, including Nigiri, Sashimi, and Maki rolls, and other items on the menu, ensuring each dish is visually appealing and consistent with the restaurant's standards; • Prepare and maintain special house sauces; • Oversee sushi bar operations; • Supervise sushi cooks and staff; • Maintain inventory and records of food ingredients, supplies, and equipment; • May plan menus, determine size of food portions, estimate food requirements and costs; • Train sushi bar staff with respect to food preparation. Job Requirements: • Completion of secondary school; • Completion of a three-year apprenticeship program for cooks or completion of college or other program in cooking or minimum 3 years of commercial cooking experience required. • Japanese cook certificate is an asset. • Strong fish handling and fillet skills preferred. • Skills demonstrations may be required.
