Job Summary

The role of Specialist, Communications will work within the Flyers Business and Revenue team as part of the Comcast Spectacor Communications Department. The individual will be based full time at Xfinity Mobile Arena and will be required to work at Flyers Training Center for media events and meetings as needed. This role will be expected to work many Flyers games and other events during the weekends and evenings. The role will report to the Senior Director, Communications.

Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Manage key items for the company’s internal communications strategy.
  • Manage all employee communications channels including the weekly employee e-newsletter, leadership updates, and organizational announcements.
  • Oversee all communication needs for Flyers Charities and Community Relations.
  • Coordinate PR opportunities including press releases, interviews, media availabilities, campaigns, and special events.
  • Support Sr. Director and Manager on select efforts for Flyers revenue PR opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain calendars and scheduling for internal communications and PR schedule for Flyers Charities and Community Relations.
  • Utilize cross departmental collaboration with marketing, content, hockey operations, and human resources to maximize communications efforts.
  • Draft and edit internal and external communications materials including media advisories, talking points, newsletters, and executive messaging.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of community initiatives, charitable campaigns, and organizational events to enhance brand visibility and engagement.
  • Monitor media coverage and compile recaps, analytics, and reporting to measure communications effectiveness and campaign performance.
  • Maintain media lists, press databases, and distribution platforms to ensure accurate and effective outreach.
  • Collaborate with social media and digital content teams to align messaging across all communication channels.
  • Coordinate logistics for media events, press conferences, community appearances, and interview opportunities.
  • Ensure all communications align with organizational branding, voice, and strategic priorities.
  • Serve as a liaison between internal departments, external partners, nonprofit organizations, and media contacts.
  • Track timelines, approvals, and deliverables for communications projects to ensure deadlines are consistently met.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives through strategic internal messaging and communications programming.
  • Research industry trends, community impact opportunities, and best practices to strengthen communications strategies and outreach efforts.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
