Guy Carpenter

Description:

Guy Carpenter is looking for an actuarial candidate to join our Stockholm office

Role Description:

In this role, you will support clients in the design, evaluation and execution of reinsurance programmes through advanced analytics, actuarial insight and commercial problem-solving .

From day one, you will contribute to work that has a real impact on client decisions. You will help transform complex risk, pricing and portfolio analyses into clear, actionable insights that support client strategy, reinsurance placement and business performance.

You will work closely with brokers, actuaries and analytics colleagues to deliver high-quality advisory support tailored to client needs, market conditions and commercial objectives. This is a role where technical expertise and business understanding go hand in hand.

This role offers an excellent platform to develop both your technical actuarial capabilities and your commercial advisory skills , while building strong client exposure early in your career.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with brokers and senior team members to understand client needs and contribute to reinsurance advice, programme evaluation and commercially relevant recommendations.
  • Apply actuarial and reinsurance tools, including MetaRisk where relevant, to assess risk exposures, compare reinsurance structures and support decision-making.
  • Interpret model outputs, identify key findings and communicate results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate effectively across teams and contribute to managing multiple projects, timelines and client priorities in a dynamic environment.

What you need to have:

  • A master’s degree in actuarial mathematics, mathematics, statistics, engineering or another related quantitative field.
  • Coding experience in one or more languages such as R, Python, SQL or Power BI .
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work confidently with data, assumptions and quantitative models.
  • A commercial mindset and an interest in applying mathematics and statistics to solve our clients’ challenges.

What makes you stand out:

  • Understanding of the reinsurance pricing processes across both non-proportional and proportional structures.
  • Familiarity with actuarial or reinsurance tools such as MetaRisk or similar analytical platforms.
  • Knowledge of one or more product lines such as Property, Casualty or other long-tailed lines of businesses.
  • Experience or interest in using modern analytics, data visualisation and AI digital tools to generate insight and support decision-making.

What We Offer:

  • The opportunity to start and grow your career at a global leader in reinsurance broking and risk advisory services, where analytics is at the heart of how we create value for clients.
  • A role with meaningful responsibility from an early stage , where your work will contribute directly to analyses and recommendations that shape programme design, pricing decisions and reinsurance strategy.
  • The chance to work with modern analytical approaches, tools and data-driven insights to solve real client challenges and support better business outcomes.
  • Ongoing training, mentorship and support from experienced colleagues across broking, actuarial and analytics teams in the Nordics, Europe and globally.

  • We offer a competitive compensation package, plus a hybrid working model with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote per week.

At Guy Carpenter, a Marsh business, you can be your best. We work on challenges that matter with colleagues who help bring out our best. Our uniquely collaborative environment will empower you to focus on your personal and professional success, learning from top specialists in the (re)insurance industry and leading you towards a rewarding and impactful career.
