Multimedia Associate Closed Captioning & Subtitling
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated Multimedia Associate to support our content localization and accessibility initiatives through high-quality closed captioning and subtitling services. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, editing, proofreading, and quality-checking captions and subtitles for various multimedia content, ensuring accuracy, synchronization, and compliance with accessibility standards.
Key Responsibilities
Create, edit, and format closed captions and subtitles for video and multimedia content.
Synchronize captions and subtitles accurately with audio and video timelines.
Review and proofread caption files for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and timing accuracy.
Ensure compliance with accessibility standards and client-specific guidelines.
Transcribe spoken dialogue, sound effects, speaker identifications, and other relevant audio elements.
Perform quality assurance (QA) checks on completed captioning and subtitling projects.
Manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines and productivity targets.
Collaborate with content creators, editors, and project managers to resolve content-related issues.
Maintain consistency in terminology, style, and formatting across projects.
Update and maintain project documentation and workflow records.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Media, Communications, English, Linguistics, Journalism, or a related field (preferred).
Excellent command of written and spoken English.
Strong grammar, punctuation, and proofreading skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work with tight deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Basic understanding of video editing and multimedia workflows.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications.
Preferred Skills
Experience with captioning and subtitling tools such as Subtitle Edit, Aegisub, CaptionMaker, EZTitles, or similar software.
Knowledge of accessibility standards (FCC, WCAG, SDH, CC).
Familiarity with transcription workflows.
Understanding of time-coding and subtitle synchronization techniques.
Knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.
Basic video and audio editing skills.
