Role:

The role of Tax Associate within our carefully growing UK/US international tax practice team is an important one. You will play a crucial role in advising high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, and families on their cross-border tax affairs. This role requires strong technical knowledge, an ability to manage a heavy workload, strong people skills in working with both clients and colleagues.

This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career professional looking to build a long-term career in international tax within a collaborative and technology-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Advisory: Provide tailored tax advice to UK and US individuals, including expatriates, business owners, and investors, ensuring compliance with UK and US tax regulations.

Complex Tax Return Preparation: Preparation and self-review of complex UK and US tax returns and other forms related to individuals, trusts, and entities.

Review & Oversight: Review tax returns prepared by junior staff, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies. Provide constructive feedback and support.

Staff Training & Development: Mentor and train junior team members, helping mentor them to maximise their career progressions in an open, sharing and positive environment.

Client Management: Take initial meetings with potential clients, building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, acting as a key point of contact for their tax compliance and planning needs.

Technical Research & Advisory: Conduct in-depth research on complex cross-border tax issues and provide strategic tax planning solutions to clients.

Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations while identifying potential risks and opportunities for clients.

Collaboration: Work closely with third parties, including legal and wealth management teams, to provide comprehensive client solutions.

Contributing to Software and Process Developments: Working closely with staff within Citrine and with our software development team on a daily basis to drive the creation of industry leading tools to help us deliver the best services to our clients. Bringing your experience to bear in helping Citrine fine tune their people processes to leverage the software developments for maximum effect.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, Law, or another relevant discipline.

Strong interest in UK and US private client taxation and international tax matters.

Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly and professionally.

Organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop within a collaborative team environment.

Comfortable working with technology and contributing to process and software improvements.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.

Desirable Criteria:

Previous internship, placement year, or work experience within tax, accounting, legal, or professional services.

Exposure to UK or US tax concepts through studies or prior experience.

Interest in pursuing a professional qualification such as ATT, CTA, EA, or CPA.

Familiarity with tax preparation software such as CCH Axcess, GoSystem, or Digita.
