We're looking for a Head of R&D, Piano to join us at Simply and help scale our teams, technologies, and processes to the next stage of growth. In this role, you’ll play a key part in building and scaling a high-performing engineering team, ensuring alignment between technology and business goals, and fostering a strong development culture. This is a unique opportunity to combine technical leadership, people management, and organizational influence – all within a fast-paced, high-impact environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead and scale high-performing engineering teams, driving execution, delivery, and growth.
- Partner closely with product, design, data, and business stakeholders to shape roadmap and priorities.
- Bridge product vision and engineering execution, making strategy actionable.
- Own key architectural and technical choices that enable scale and continuous product evolution.
- Identify bottlenecks, streamline processes, and boost team velocity through org and workflow changes.
- Coach and mentor engineers, fostering growth, ownership, and impact.
- Uphold high standards of code quality, collaboration, and engineering culture.
Who you are and what you’ve done
- Proven experience leading and scaling teams, preferably in high-growth environments
- Strong hands-on technical background in software engineering and system architecture
- Entrepreneurial experience, including founding or leading ventures
- Excellent understanding of modern development methodologies
- Love for problem-solving and shaping team culture
- Strong sense of ownership and a drive to get things done
- Ability to balance long-term thinking with immediate delivery needs
