Position Title: Substitute Nutrition Services Worker Location: Lakewood City Schools / Lakewood, OH Employment Type: As Needed / Part-Time / On-Call Pay Rate: $13.29/Hour About the Role Dedicated School Staffing is seeking dependable and hardworking Substitute Nutrition Services Workers to support school nutrition teams when regular staff members are unavailable. This position plays an important role in ensuring students receive healthy, safe, and timely meals each day. Substitute workers assist with food preparation, serving, kitchen operations, and maintaining a clean and welcoming cafeteria environment. Key Responsibilities Assist with preparing and portioning food according to established menus and guidelines Serve meals to students in a friendly and efficient manner Operate kitchen equipment safely and follow all food handling procedures Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, serving lines, and cafeteria spaces Wash dishes, utensils, and equipment as needed Set up and break down serving stations and food lines Follow all district nutrition policies, safety standards, and sanitation procedures Assist with inventory, storage, and organization of food supplies Collaborate with kitchen staff and school personnel Provide positive customer service to students and staff Required Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age Clean criminal background check required Obtain an Ohio ID account and enroll in the Ohio rapback program Ability to follow directions and work efficiently in a fast-paced setting Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices Ability to lift, carry, or move items as needed Dependability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic Adherence to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Previous experience in food service, cafeteria operations, or customer service Knowledge of safe food handling procedures Ability to operate standard kitchen equipment safely What We Offer Flexible scheduling options Opportunities to gain experience in school nutrition services Pathways to other school-based roles Potential for long-term substitute assignments Options for limited medical benefits Enrollment in the School Employees Retirement System (SERS)
