Position Title: Substitute Educational Aide / Paraprofessional Location: Lorain City Schools / Lorain, OH Employment Type: As Needed / Part-Time / On-Call Pay Rate: $15.20/Hour About the Role Dedicated School Staffing is seeking reliable and compassionate Substitute Educational Aides and Paraprofessionals to step in when regular staff members are unavailable. This role is vital in supporting classroom instruction, reinforcing student learning, and maintaining a safe and structured environment across both general and special education settings. Key Responsibilities Assist teachers with instructional delivery, classroom activities, and student supervision Provide individualized or small-group support, including assistance for students with special needs Implement accommodations and modifications as directed by instructional staff or intervention specialists Support students with daily school routines such as organization, transitions, and participation in lessons Supervise students in various settings including classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and dismissal areas Promote a respectful, safe, and inclusive learning environment Follow lesson plans, behavior support plans, and safety guidelines as provided Communicate regularly with teachers, staff, and school administrators Record and report student behavior, progress, or incidents when required Required Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age High school diploma or equivalent required Valid Ohio educational aide permit or higher teaching license (as required by state regulations) Clear criminal background check Ability to work effectively with children in a patient, professional, and supportive manner Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to follow instructions and adjust to different classroom environments and student needs Physical capability to assist students when needed (e.g., mobility or classroom support tasks) Compliance with the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working with children in educational or childcare settings Experience supporting students with disabilities Training in behavior support, classroom management, or de-escalation techniques What We Offer Flexible, as-needed scheduling Opportunities to gain hands-on experience in education and student support Pathways to long-term substitute assignments Potential routes to other school-based positions Access to limited medical benefit options Enrollment in the School Employees Retirement System (SERS)
