Position Title: Substitute Educational Aide Location: Orange City Schools / Pepper Pike, OH Employment Type: As Needed / Part-Time / On-Call Pay Rate: $14.00 $15.00/Hour About the Role Dedicated School Staffing is seeking reliable, patient, and supportive Substitute Educational Aides to assist classrooms when regular staff are unavailable. This position plays an important role in helping maintain consistent learning environments, supporting student engagement, and ensuring both general and special education students receive appropriate assistance throughout the school day. Key Responsibilities Assist teachers with classroom instruction, activities, and student supervision Provide targeted support to individual students or small groups, including those with special needs Carry out instructional accommodations and modifications as directed by certified staff or intervention specialists Support students with daily routines such as organization, transitions, and classroom participation Monitor students across school environments, including classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and dismissal areas Promote a safe, respectful, and structured learning environment Follow lesson plans, behavior support plans, and established safety procedures Maintain communication with teachers, administrators, and support staff Record observations and report incidents or concerns when required Required Qualifications Must be at least 18 years old High school diploma or equivalent required Valid Ohio educational aide permit or higher teaching license (per state requirements) Clear criminal background check required Ability to work with children in a calm, professional, and supportive manner Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to follow instructions and adapt to different classroom settings Physical ability to assist students when needed (including mobility or classroom support tasks) Compliance with the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators Preferred Qualifications Prior experience working with children in schools, childcare, or related settings Experience supporting students with disabilities Training in behavior support, classroom management, or de-escalation strategies What We Offer Flexible, on-call scheduling Opportunities to gain hands-on experience in education Potential for long-term substitute assignments Pathways to additional school-based roles Access to optional medical benefit programs Enrollment in the School Employees Retirement System (SERS)
