The Role: Boekeman Machinery is seeking a skilled and motivated Agricultural Heavy Duty Service Mechanic (Fitter (General)) to join their high-performing service team. This dual-focused role involves supporting broadacre farmers through high-level diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance. You will work across both their modern branch workshops and on-site at client farms, ensuring the peak performance of large-scale agricultural machinery during the most critical times of the farming calendar. Key Responsibilities: • Diagnose, repair, and maintain mechanical faults on a variety of broadacre machinery, including tractors (200hp+), headers, and sprayers. • Perform pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and preparation of new machinery to manufacturer standards. • Conduct complex troubleshooting across mechanical, hydraulic (including CCLS / PFC systems), and 12/24V auto-electrical systems. • Execute routine servicing and preventative maintenance to ensure operational efficiency and minimize seasonal downtime. • Assemble, install, and test mechanical components and hydraulic systems. • Interpret technical manuals, hydraulic schematics, and electrical diagrams to assess faults accurately. • Provide efficient on-farm field service and breakdown support to clients across the Wheatbelt. • Maintain accurate service records, labor hours, and technical documentation. • Work collaboratively with the service department, parts team, and apprentices to optimize branch performance. • Adhere to workplace health and safety (WHS) protocols and maintain a clean, professional workspace. What We’re Looking For: • Trade Qualification: AQF Certificate III or IV in Agricultural Mechanical Technology, Mobile Plant Technology, or a relevant Mechanical Trade. • Experience: Proven hands-on experience servicing large agricultural machinery (tractors, headers, sprayers). • Technical Skills: Strong diagnostic capabilities in hydraulics and auto-electrical systems. • Technical Preference: Direct experience with CNH (Case IH / New Holland) dealership systems is highly preferred. Experience with John Deere or AGCO platforms is also highly valued. • Attributes: A proactive attitude, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in remote field-service environments.
