The Role:
Calibre is seeking a motivated and experienced Diesel Motor Mechanic. In this specialised role, you will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and testing of diesel engines and associated components across a diverse range of vehicles and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines, fuel injection systems, and related mechanical components for light and heavy vehicles.
- Conduct advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting using specialised diesel diagnostic equipment to identify and resolve complex engine and electrical faults.
- Perform engine overhauls, including the dismantling, repairing, and reassembling of diesel engine assemblies and sub-assemblies.
- Carry out routine servicing and preventative maintenance on diesel-powered trucks, trailers, and 4WDs.
- Test and adjust repaired systems to ensure they meet manufacturer specifications and performance standards.
- Ensure all work is completed to a high standard of safety and quality, utilising premium parts and fluids.
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace within our fully-equipped workshop.
- Maintain accurate service records, technical reports, and diagnostic documentation.
- Provide training and mentorship to apprentices and junior team members.
- Liaise with service advisors or clients to provide technical recommendations and updates on diesel performance.
What We’re Looking For:
- Relevant trade qualifications: Certificate III in Light or Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent (aligned with ANZSCO 321212 requirements).
- At least 3 years’ experience post-qualification in a diesel mechanical workshop.
- Strong technical knowledge of diesel fuel systems and engine management.
- High level of mechanical aptitude and analytical problem-solving ability.
- Motivated, passionate, and an excellent positive attitude.
- Experience in heavy vehicle systems, including air brakes, hydraulics, or transmissions.
- Ability to work alongside apprentices and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
