The Payroll Administrator will be responsible for checking and processing all relevant documents to prepare and reconcile a semi-monthly computerized payroll, as well as other related duties as assigned. Reporting to the Benefits, Payroll, and People Experience Manager, and working closely with the Financial Controller; the individual will be tasked with ensuring employees are provided with exceptional service from the HR department, including the processing of a semi-monthly payroll for non-union employees while providing overall administrative support. The successful candidate must have Canadian Payroll Association certification, experience with Microsoft Office. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong organizational skills and initiative and have excellent interpersonal skills. The successful candidate must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced work environment and meet deadlines. Although this role primarily focuses on the payroll function, the role will also be assigned other administrative duties in support of the organization. Description of Duties and Responsibilities -Processing of semi-monthly payroll for salaried, salaried shift and hourly employees working regular and rotating shift schedules using ADP. -Prepare and verify statements of earnings for employees, indicating gross and net salaries and deductions such as taxes, garnishments, insurance and RRSP plans and maintain detailed records and documentation of payroll functions for audit purposes, in accordance with statutory requirements. -Prepare, verify and process all employee payroll related payments, including regular pay, benefit payments, and special payments such as bonuses and vacation pay -Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies. -Maintain and update employee information, such as records of employee attendance, leave and overtime to calculate pay and benefit entitlements. -Maintain and update ADP Payroll system. -Calculate termination pay and process electronic Records of Employment. -Benefits administration -Assist the Financial Controller with completing third party remittances -Reporting -Assist in the development and implementation of payroll policies, programs and procedures -Assist with training on payroll processes and procedures -T4 and Year End processing -Additional related duties as assigned Position Qualifications -Three (3) years’ experience processing payroll for a non-unionized workforce -Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) or Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) Certification -Solid knowledge of Canadian payroll requirements and processes Not for Profit or social service agency experience an asset -Must legally be able to work in Canada -Knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards -Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel -Experience with ADP Payroll system is an asset -General accounting knowledge is an asset -Experience with reconciliations -Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills -Strong organization skills -Strong communication skills both verbal and written -Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy -Be able to work independently yet remain an integral member of the HR/Admin team and provide support when necessary -Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner -Emergency First Aid, CPR and AED training -Current Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day Thank you for applying to the George Spady Society.
