Core Duties and Responsibilities Interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications to understand the required dimensions and features of a part. Machine Setup; Installing tools, fixtures, and raw materials into the machine, as well as calibrating settings to ensure accuracy. Writing or loading programs that guide the machine's cutting paths, speeds, and feeds. Observing machines while in operation to detect errors, replacing dull tools, and performing routine maintenance to prevent downtime. Measuring finished parts using precision tools (like calipers or micrometers) to ensure they meet specifications, particularly for aerospace, automotive, or medical industries. Skills and Requirements Strong understanding of, and experience with, CAD/CAM software and computer-controlled equipment. Regular use of geometry and trigonometry to calculate measurements and tool paths. Troubleshooting issues that arise during the machining process
