Overview

Develop and execute engineering solutions for operation and enhancement of steel processing equipment. This is a technical support role for the operations and maintenance team. The majority of this role will be performed on the mill floor working with operations and maintenance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support of multiple steel processing departments
  • Ensure safe and proper operation of processing lines per manufacturer operation and safety guidelines
  • Addressing production improvement requests from the operations team
  • Responding to out-of-service equipment issues
  • Developing downtime reduction strategies
  • Programming system visualization and controls according to specifications
  • Maintain backups of all software related to mill operation and support systems
  • Develop technicians troubleshooting skills and programming skills

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills ·
  • Excellent safety and attendance record ·
  • Required to be available any time day or night to take calls and call-in's. ·
  • Technical degree in field of Electrical Engineering or similar ·
  • Experience in:
    • Power Distribution systems
    • AC/DC Circuitry Components
    • Programming and configuration of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC): Siemens PLCs, Step 7 Simatic Manager and TIA Portal
    • Variable Frequency Drives (VFD): TMEIC or Siemens

Experience/Prefrences

  • PC and Control System Networking and Industrial Communications Systems
  • Experience with SMS Group Automation Systems including XPact Controllers
  • Proficiency using LogiCAD
  • Hydraulic & Pneumatic controls
  • Know and understand electrical principles and electronics
  • Knowledge of diverse electrical equipment
