Make-Ready is dedicated to producing original prints of outstanding quality and has an altogether different approach on defining what a fine art print studio can be. We specialise in high-end silkscreen printing, producing stunning artworks for some of the world's most exciting contemporary artists.

We’re a small team with really big ambitions, both for what we want to achieve and also the environment we’re building. We all work incredibly hard because we really care about what Make-Ready is here to do. We want to create a company that remains thoughtful as we scale and tries to be genuinely progressive in how we operate; we want people to really own what they do and create something meaningful. We are currently a team of 12 based in Tottenham, North London. This is a unique opportunity develop yourself within a team of highly skilled professionals working with one of the most technically versatile printing processes in the arts. You will be based at the studio Monday-Friday.

  • A team player who is humble, collaborative, and able to contribute meaningfully to projects beyond their immediate tasks, always keeping the overall project goals in mind. This individual possesses no ego, no sense of ‘us and them’, readily sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues. They don't just complete the task in front of them; instead, they have a holistic, goal-oriented mindset, anticipating potential issues, proactively suggesting solutions, and actively participating to ensure the successful completion of the entire project, not just completing the day.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Skills, Techniques, Experience:

    • Operating and maintaining Make-Ready’s silkscreen printing equipment inc hand benches, semi automated benches and all supporting equipment, under guidance to produce a world class printed output.

    • Achieved through constantly driving to better technique and process knowledge as well as building a good level of communication with the wider team to help problem solve.

  • Proofing:

    • Proofing and developing projects assigned to you by the Creative Team and Production & Logistics Team within agreed timelines.

    • Actively contributing to problem solving by leveraging material and practical knowledge.

  • Editions (BAU/Timed-Launches):

    • Graduating proofed works into full editions: Ensuring the process is set up and built for successful delivery of projects on budget and on time.

  • Pre-press & Stencil Making:

    • Maintain and development a continued understanding of the stencil making process

    • Working in the stencil department as required

  • Finishing & Additional Studio Tasks

    • Contributing to necessary finishing and other studio tasks that are required to complete projects and maintain the studio.

    • Additional tasks included maintaining equipment and parts of the studio that might not be directly related to your role

    • Assisting during a signing session with an artist

    • Contributing to organising a team social event

    • Presenting insights from the print floor in an all company meeting

    • Be a role model and uphold the core M-R principles of printing and studio behaviour. From a tidy and organised workspace to being a pleasure to interact with and proactively contributing to solutions and workplace culture in an open, respectful and collaborative way as well as recognising and respecting the structure of the studio. With the direct objective of avoiding wasted time and better delivering projects on time and on budget

Objectives & Summary:

  • To physically produce proofs, BAU edition and Timed Launch prints for Make-Ready and Avant Arte on budget and on time

  • To maintain printing ‘up-time’ through an organised and productive printing environment.

  • To hit printing targets (both proofing and edition printing) set by the Creative Team & Production & Logistics team
