Chapel Audio/Visual (A/V) Technician
Place of Performance: Vandenberg SFB, CA
General Description:
Chapel Audio/Visual (A/V) Technician shall manage technical support for Sunday services, ensuring a seamless worship experience for both in-person and online congregants. Provide audio and visual support, which includes operating sound equipment, managing cameras, and ensuring the quality and stability of the live stream for the duration of the service.
Specific Tasks:
• Pre-Service Preparation
1. Arrive at the chapel at least 45 minutes prior to the start of the Sunday service to set up and test all audio and video equipment.
2. Conduct a pre-service check of all microphones, speakers, monitors, cameras, and streaming software to ensure functionality.
• Service Operation
1. Manage the audio mix (DL32S Mackie Mixer) during the service, balancing levels for worship teams, speakers, and any other audio inputs to ensure clarity for both the in-person congregation and the live stream audience.
2. Operate cameras to provide a clear and engaging visual presentation for the live stream.
3. Start, monitor, and end the Facebook Live broadcast for the service personally or by coordinating with volunteers.
4. Proactively troubleshoot any audio, video, or streaming issues that may arise during the service.
• Post-Service Duties
1. Properly shut down and store all A/V equipment in accordance with chapel procedures.
2. Report any equipment malfunctions or technical issues to the designated chapel staff representative in a timely manner.
• Professional Conduct and Improvement
1. Assimilate, assess, and improve existing A/V procedures and provide recommendations for enhancement.
2. Maintain professional standards of conduct and public decorum.
Qualifications:
• At least one year of experience with live audio mixing, including the use of soundboards (e.g., DL32S Mackie Mixer), microphones, and speakers.
• At least one year of experience with live video streaming, including camera operation and familiarity with streaming software (e.g., OBS, Streamlabs) and platforms (e.g., Facebook Live, YouTube).
• Ability to work independently in a fluid and sometimes fast-paced environment.
• Ability to constructively work in an interfaith environment and maintain healthy, functional, and professional interpersonal relationships.
• Ability to clearly communicate technical information in understandable terms to staff and volunteers.
• High school diploma.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write English proficiently and professionally.
