Scopely is looking for a Art Director, Live Operations to join our Monopoly GO! team in our Barcelona Hub on a hybrid basis to lead the visual direction and execution of live content for our mobile game portfolio. This role is responsible for driving the artistic vision of seasonal events, promotions, monetization campaigns, and live content updates that keep players engaged and excited over time.
The ideal candidate combines strong artistic leadership with deep understanding of live-service game development, player motivation, monetization strategies, and production pipelines. You will collaborate closely with Product, Design, Marketing, UX, and external partners to deliver compelling live experiences at a high quality and fast cadence.

This role owns the end-to-end art direction, ensuring a cohesive, high-quality, and player-centric visual experience across a wide range of features—from UI-driven systems to content-heavy initiatives. You will play a key role not only in defi ning visual direction, but in shaping how the team thinks: challenging assumptions, pushing for clarity, and helping teams understand the why behind creative decisions. This is a highly collaborative and hands-on leadership role that requires strong communication, creative conviction, and the ability to operate across different problem spaces.
What You Will Do:
Creative Leadership
- Define and maintain the visual quality bar for all live operations content
- Establish art direction for seasonal events, in-game campaigns, cosmetics, offers, and promotional content
- Ensure visual consistency across live features while evolving the game’s artistic identity
- Provide clear creative feedback and mentorship to internal artists and external vendors
- Explore and implement AI workflow advantages to the art pipeline
Live Operations Content Development
- Oversee creation of live event assets
- Collaborate with Content Design and Product teams to align art direction with engagement and monetization goals
- Drive rapid iteration and scalable content production for recurring live events
Team & Vendor Management
- Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary art team across 2D, UI, marketing, and production art
- Manage external art outsourcing pipelines and ensure deliverables meet quality standards
- Improve workflows, documentation, and production efficiency for live content creation
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with: Product Managers on live event strategies, UX/UI teams on player-facing experiences, Marketing teams on campaign alignment, Engineers and Producers on implementation feasibility and schedules
- Balance creative ambition with production constraints and live operation timelines
Player-Centric Visual Strategy
- Use player insights, analytics, and performance data to refine visual approaches
- Understand trends in mobile gaming, live-service ecosystems, and player expectations
- Continuously innovate on event presentation, reward excitement, and monetization visuals
What We’re Looking For:
- 7+ years of experience in game art development in leadership experience
- Shipped multiple mobile or live-service game titles
- Strong portfolio demonstrating:
- Art direction
- Live event content
- Mobile UI/UX sensibilities
- Experience working within fast-paced live operations environments
- Strong understanding of mobile game production pipelines and asset optimization
- Excellent communication and team leadership skills
- Experience in exploring, developing, applying, and improving AI pipeline
Bonus Points:
- Experience with free-to-play mobile games
- Familiarity with player engagement and monetization strategies
- Experience managing external vendors and distributed teams
- Knowledge of Unity pipelines and implementation constraints
- Background in both in-game art and marketing creative
- Experience working with established IPs
