Job description
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated In - Home Caregiver to provide essential support and assistance to an elderly woman diagnosed with Parkinson’s and dementia in her own home. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about helping others, especially seniors with cognitive and physical impairments, and who possess a strong sense of empathy and professionalism.
Duties:
• Assist the individual with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and well-being.
• Provide patient care including medication administration, basic wound care, and monitoring health status under little to no supervision or, as trained.
• Prepare nutritious meals according to dietary requirements and assist with feeding if necessary.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and maintaining a safe living environment.
• Support the individual with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when required, ensuring proper safety procedures are followed.
• Offer companionship and emotional support to reduce feelings of anxiety, loneliness or isolation
• Assist with specialized care needs related to dementia, and working with individuals with disabilities.
• Follow care plans accurately and document observations or changes in client condition for healthcare professional’s review.
• Report any changes in conditions or concerns promptly to employer.
• Run errands and accompany the individual to appointments/social outings as directed.
Qualifications:
• Proficient verbal and written English communication skills
• Have one of the following qualifications:
- PSW certification from an approved and recognized educational institution
- RN/RPN Student who with a minimum successful completion of year one of the program
• Prior experience in assisted living, nursing homes, hospice care, or home care is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of patient care practices and caregiving techniques tailored to seniors or individuals with disabilities.
• Experience working with dementia patients is a plus.
• Physical ability to meet the demands of the job (ex. Ability to stand, bend, walk, crouch, kneel and reach freely for extended periods, ability to lift 23 kg independently, ability to assist with standing, walking, sitting)
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and assist with mobility needs.
• Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills and compassionate demeanor essential for building trust with clients.
• On-site private comfortable accommodation available at no charge on a live-in basis. NOT a job requirement.
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends if needed.

• Valid Police Clearance Record Check
• Must pass reference checks and adhere to all safety protocols related to health standards.
• Valid certifications in CPR/AED Level C, Food Handler Certificate, Gentle Persuasive Approach in Dementia Care
