Podium Automation is reimagining industrial control panel manufacturing through software-enabled design and automated fabrication. We're building technology to create a new industrial supply chain - reducing lead times for critical electrical equipment from months to days. Backed by top-tier investors including a16z's American Dynamism fund, SV Angel, and Banter Capital, we're growing rapidly and looking for exceptional people to help us scale.

We are seeking a full-time Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the design of our electrical schematics. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will be a thought partner in designing and implementing systems that cut lead time out of every step of the panel design and build process.

What You’ll Do

  • Translate customer design requirements into build-ready UL 508A compliant electrical schematics

  • Build out Podium’s component database and develop schematic templates to standardize design methodology, panel layout, and schematic aesthetics

  • Test, implement, and provide feedback on new software tools that help speed up the schematic creation process

  • Support the automation of the panel build process through testing of new methods and tools, and ensuring necessary information is digitized during the design phase.

  • Oversee final validation testing of panels prior to ship

  • Be an internal expert on supplier offerings, staying up-to-date on new product features and maximizing the value Podium can supply to its customers through strong manufacturer and distributor relationships

  • Mentor junior electrical engineers and partner with operations supervisors on upskilling our assembly technicians

Who You Are

There are 4 values that all Podium employees are expected to demonstrate (albeit imperfectly):

  • Win for the customer. We sit on the same side of the table as our customers - their wins are our wins. We’re building the vendor we always wished we had.

  • Default to transparency. We believe in honesty, transparency, and kindness. It’s about how you get things done and not just what gets done.

  • Speed is a feature. We move fast and take ownership. Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good.

  • Win and lose as a team. Individuals drive inputs, teams drive outputs. We celebrate success together but aren’t afraid to fail and iterate. We own outcomes together and don’t deflect blame.

Required for this role

  • Must have completed a 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related field

  • 5+ years of work experience in controls or electrical engineering in industrial automation, including direct experience designing electrical schematics to UL 508A standard

  • Familiar with DTM, E3, EPLAN, or AutoCAD Electrical

  • Available to work in-person in Brooklyn, NY (in person, 5 days/week)

Nice to have

  • Certified UL 508A Manufacturer’s Technical Representative

  • Experience designing panels to UL 698A for hazardous locations (NRBX / NNNY)

  • Experience programming PLCs (Beckhoff, Siemens, Allen Bradley)

Additional Information

  • Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.

  • Relocation assistance is available for this position.

  • Compensation of $120,000 - $150,000 commensurate with experience, with competitive equity package
