The CNE History of Sports Exhibit celebrates the Canadian National Exhibition’s long-standing connection to professional and amateur sport, highlighting historic moments, legendary athletes, community competitions, and the CNE’s role as a gathering place for athletic achievement and civic pride. Located within the exhibit, the CNE Shop offers guests a curated selection of heritage-inspired merchandise including apparel, prints, souvenirs, and archival reproductions that help support the ongoing work of the CNE Archives. Successful candidates can expect a dynamic, guest-facing role that combines retail sales, cash handling, customer service, and museum-style facilitation. Staff will welcome visitors, share stories about the exhibit, assist with merchandise purchases, protect artifacts and displays, and help create an engaging, memorable experience for thousands of guests throughout the 18 days of the fair.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES:
- Deliver exceptional customer service to all guests in a professional and welcoming manner
- Handle cash transactions accurately, including sales, balancing floats, and basic point-of-sale procedures
- Support retail operations including merchandise sales, stocking, display upkeep, and guest inquiries
- Provide information to guests about the CNE, Archives programming, and installed exhibits in an enthusiastic and informative manner
- Facilitate guest engagement within a museum-style exhibit environment, encouraging interaction while maintaining a respectful atmosphere
- Monitor exhibit spaces to ensure artifacts and displays are protected from direct public contact
- Ensure exhibit and retail areas remain clean, organized, and presentable at all times
- Identify, respond to, and de-escalate situations requiring attention, escalating concerns to supervisors when appropriate
- Answer guest questions regarding attractions, facilities, services, and programming across the grounds
