JOB PURPOSE STATEMENT

Your role will be to promote, sell and control the events from initial enquiry to contracting. Be able to efficiently qualify and sell the Hotel for conference and events and accommodation related to Conference & Events (C&E). Build up powerful customer relationships that deliver repeat business. Maximise revenue through actively upselling events and ensuring seamless guest experience. Consistently strive to develop relationships with new and repeat booking customers to increase revenue and demand. Assist in training new and junior team members. Assist in making Hilton Events the Market leader. Reporting to the Director of Group, Conference and Events and the Assistant Director of Group, Conference and Events, the Senior Event Manager leads the hotel’s event planning and coordination team, with the focus on delivering the most reliable and friendly experiences to our clients and guests, as well as supporting the hotel’s commercial performance across all areas impacted by event planning.

THE PERSON - SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum three years’ experience in a similar role.

Tertiary qualifications.

Previous experience in event and group management, preferably in a hotel environment.

Able to take management direction and works well with a team to achieve goals.

Strong administration and communication skills.

Self-motivated and able to work effectively without constant supervision.

Strong selling skills and understand the processes to close the sale.

Manage conference and event leads with excellent telephone sales skills.

Demonstrated attention to detail, while multi-tasking and delivering work on time.

Ability to meet and conduct effective site inspections of the Hotel and facilities.

Ability to work productively despite multiple interruptions.

Ability to be customer focused and find solutions to exceed customer requirements.

Demonstrates positive involvement and interaction with the overall Hilton team both at an individual, team & management level.

Be an outstanding team player.

Strong commercial acumen, with experience in drafting and managing budgets/revenue proposals; analysing and forecasting results/market segments and rates.

Systems and software knowledge.

Computer literate.

Proficient in accounts management/events management systems.

Exceptional stake holder management skills to manage multiple stakeholder expectations.

A high level of interpersonal skills in both oral and written communication.

Time management and ability to follow directions.

Committed to delivering a high level of customer service.

Excellent grooming standards.

Excellent planning and organising skills.

Able to work on a rotating roster, both day and night shifts involving late starts and early finishes.
