Position Title: Substitute School Secretary Location: Vermilion Local Schools / Vermilion, OH Employment Type: As Needed / Part-Time / On-Call Pay Rate: $12.00/Hour About the Role Dedicated School Staffing is seeking organized, friendly, and dependable Substitute School Secretaries to support school office operations when regular staff are unavailable. This position plays a key role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations, serving as a welcoming point of contact for students, families, and staff while keeping the front office running efficiently. Key Responsibilities Greet and assist students, families, staff, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner Answer and route phone calls, take messages, and provide accurate information Support attendance tracking, student check-in/check-out, and daily office procedures Perform clerical duties such as filing, copying, data entry, and document organization Assist with scheduling, communication, and distribution of school information Maintain confidentiality of all student and staff records and information Follow district policies, safety procedures, and office protocols Support school staff during emergencies, drills, or unexpected situations Collaborate with administrators and office personnel to ensure efficient operations Required Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older Clean criminal background checks with no disqualifying offenses Ability to obtain Ohio ID account and enroll in Ohio RAPBACK program Strong communication and customer service skills Basic computer proficiency (email, word processing, and office software) Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment Professionalism, reliability, and strong attention to detail Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately Compliance with the Ohio Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Educators Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Previous experience in office administration, clerical work, customer service, or school settings Familiarity with student information systems or office software Ability to remain calm and flexible in fast-paced or changing situations What We Offer Flexible, as-needed scheduling Experience in school office and administrative environments Opportunities for long-term substitute assignments Potential pathways to additional school-based roles Optional access to basic medical benefits Eligibility for enrollment in the School Employees Retirement System (SERS)
