Position Title: Substitute Special Education Aide Location: North Point Educational Service Center Alternative Learning Center / Sandusky, OH Employment Type: As Needed / Part-Time / On-Call Pay Rate: $15.92/Hour About the Role Dedicated School Staffing is seeking reliable, compassionate, and patient Substitute Special Education Aides to support students with disabilities when regular staff are unavailable. This position helps ensure students continue receiving consistent, individualized support so they can access learning, meet IEP goals, and participate fully in the school day within a structured and supportive environment. Key Responsibilities Provide individualized or small-group support to students with academic, behavioral, physical, or developmental needs Assist with implementation of IEP goals, accommodations, and modifications as directed by certified staff Support student communication, social interaction, and classroom engagement Assist with personal care needs when required (e.g., mobility support, feeding, toileting) following established training and protocols Apply positive behavior support strategies and follow behavior intervention plans Supervise students across school settings including classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and arrival/dismissal Support use of assistive technology, adaptive equipment, or sensory tools as directed Maintain a calm, steady presence during behavioral or emotional escalations Document observations, incidents, or progress as required by staff Collaborate closely with teachers and support teams to maintain consistency and structure Required Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older High school diploma or equivalent Valid Ohio educational aide permit or applicable licensure Clean criminal background check Strong patience, communication, and teamwork skills Ability to follow structured routines and individualized student plans Ability to safely assist students with physical needs when necessary Professional conduct in accordance with Ohio educator standards Preferred Qualifications Experience working in special education or with students with disabilities Training in behavior intervention, crisis de-escalation, or support strategies Familiarity with IEPs, adaptive tools, or assistive technology What We Offer Flexible, as-needed scheduling Meaningful experience supporting diverse learner needs Potential for long-term assignment opportunities Pathways to additional school-based positions Optional minor medical benefits Enrollment in School Employees Retirement System (SERS)
