Position Title: Substitute Paraprofessional Location: Perkins Local Schools / Sandusky, OH Employment Type: As Needed / Part-Time / On-Call Pay Rate: $13.99/Hour About the Role Dedicated School Staffing is looking for reliable, compassionate Substitute Paraprofessionals to step in when regular staff are unavailable. This position plays a key role in supporting students and teachers while helping maintain a structured, safe, and welcoming learning environment. Substitute aides assist with classroom instruction, provide targeted student support, and help ensure consistency across both general and special education settings. Key Responsibilities Assist classroom teachers with instruction, activities, and student supervision Provide one-on-one or small-group support, including assistance for students with special needs Carry out accommodations and modifications as outlined by the teacher or intervention specialist Support students with daily routines such as organization, transitions, and classroom participation Supervise students in a variety of settings including classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and during arrival/dismissal Help foster a safe, respectful, and positive classroom environment Follow lesson plans, behavior plans, and established safety procedures Communicate clearly and professionally with teachers, staff, and administrators Record and report student observations or incidents when required Required Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older High school diploma or equivalent required Valid Ohio educational aide permit or higher teaching license (per state requirements) Passing background checks with no disqualifying history Ability to interact with students in a patient, professional, and supportive way Strong communication and interpersonal abilities Flexibility to follow direction and adapt across various classrooms and student needs Physical capability to assist students when needed (mobility or classroom support) Compliance with the Ohio Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Educators Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working with children in schools, childcare, or similar environments Background supporting students with disabilities Training in behavior support, de-escalation, or similar strategies What We Offer Flexible scheduling options Experience working in educational settings and student support roles Opportunity for long-term substitute assignments Potential pathways into additional school-based positions Access to optional basic medical benefits Enrollment eligibility in the School Employees Retirement System (SERS)
