Position Title: Behavioral and Academic Coach Location: Educational Service Center of Lake Erie West -Alternative Learning Center / Toledo, OH Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment / Full-Time or Part-Time Pay Rate: $18.00/Hour About the Role Dedicated School Staffing is seeking dedicated and skilled Behavioral and Academic Coaches to provide primary support to the classroom teacher in reinforcing and monitoring the daily educational program and behavior plans for students with serious emotional disturbances, learning disabilities, and other varied disabilities. Key Responsibilities Assist the classroom teacher in reinforcing the educational program and behavior plan for students in accordance with their IEP Assist the classroom teacher in adapting curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the needs of individual students Maintain clear and consistent communication with the classroom teacher to ensure effective implementation of the student's educational program and behavior plan Assist the classroom teacher in the implementation of the PBIS system; coach students in behavior management skills Assist the teacher with documentation requirements, including collecting data to monitor student progress Assist with crisis intervention situations in the ALC program Assist teacher and students with tasks related to daily activities (e.g., lunch and/or recess duty, helping load and unload buses Supervise students during short-term absences of the teacher from the classroom or in non-classroom settings (e.g., restrooms, cafeterias, corridors) Perform routine clerical tasks and assist with maintenance of the classroom as directed by the teacher Help maintain accurate and complete student records; help prepare and submit required reports on time. Required Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older High school diploma or equivalent Valid educational aide permit or higher teaching license (as required by state regulations) Clean criminal background checks Ability to follow teacher direction, adapt to student needs, and remain patient and calm Flexibility, empathy, and a commitment to student growth Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills Physical ability to support students who may require lifting, mobility assistance, or crisis intervention Adherence to the Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Ohio Educators Preferred Qualifications Associates degree or higher educational experience Experience working with children, especially those with disabilities Familiarity with intervention strategies, behavior supports, or small-group instruction Certification in Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) Experience with Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) What We Offer Consistent schedule for the duration of the assignment Opportunities to build long-term experience in education Potential pathways to other school-based roles Options for minor medical benefits Enrollment in School Employees Retirement System (SERS)
