Position Title: Substitute Educational Aide Location: Van Buren Local Schools / Van Buren, OH Employment Type: As Needed / Part-Time / On-Call Pay Rate: $12.00/Hour About the Role Dedicated School Staffing is seeking reliable and compassionate Substitute Educational Aides to support students and staff when regular personnel are absent. This position is key to maintaining a safe, supportive, and productive classroom environment. Substitute aides assist with classroom instruction, provide individualized student support, and help ensure consistency across general and special education settings. Key Responsibilities Assist classroom teachers with instruction, classroom activities, and supervision Provide one-on-one and small-group support, including students with special needs Implement accommodations and modifications as directed by the teacher or intervention specialist Support students with daily routines such as organization, transitions, and classroom engagement Supervise students in a variety of settings including classrooms, hallways, cafeterias, playgrounds, and during arrival/dismissal Help maintain a safe, respectful, and positive learning environment Follow lesson plans, behavior plans, and established safety procedures Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and administrators Document student observations, incidents, or progress as required Required Qualifications Must be 18 years of age or older High school diploma or equivalent required Valid Ohio educational aide permit or higher teaching license (per state regulations) Clean criminal background check with no disqualifying offenses Ability to work with children in a patient, professional, and supportive manner Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to follow direction and adapt to different classrooms and student needs Physical ability to assist students when needed (mobility or classroom support tasks) Compliance with the Ohio Licensure Code of Professional Conduct for Educators Preferred Qualifications Previous experience working with children in educational or childcare settings Experience supporting students with disabilities Training in behavior management or de-escalation strategies What We Offer Flexible, as-needed scheduling Opportunities to gain experience in school-based environments Potential for long-term substitute assignments Pathways to additional education-related roles Optional access to basic medical benefits Eligibility for enrollment in the School Employees Retirement System (SERS)
